Will You Go Out There and Beat Oklahoma?

I predict it will resemble a track meet...first team to 42 wins!

We will see. I don't think so. I think our defense is better than that but this will be their first real test. I'm wondering if we might have the only decent defense in the Big XII this year.

OU only gave up 3 to Akron, but 24 to Tennessee (who knows how good/bad they are), and 38 to Tulsa. We've given up 23 points all year. How does the level of competition compare? Too early to tell, although UMD looks like a really really bad team.

As always, turnovers will play a big role in the outcome of the game.

Simple question.....

Yes. Simple answer.

Tony is wrong about the scoring, it will be a lower scoring game. They scored 24 against UTenn with an overtime. They will be in the low twenties, we will be in the upper twenties, maybe low thirties.

I'd say it is 50/50,kind of like when Marshall act plays someone in the Top 100...
You mean Jeff's Top 100....saw where he still has 'bama ranked #1 in spite of the fact they lost on their home field to Ole Miss , who he ranks #2....Mr. Sagarin's rankings are fun but hardly definitive!

We'll see but could bet the under 58 with all the pop tax money you boys reap! Tulsa pushed the Sooners all over the place and UT stopped themselves all night. I think you boys will score on 'em.

Excuse me, couldn't bet the under....

Winning on any P5's home field is tough, couple that with a "ranked" P5's home field and the odds grow even longer. With that said, I have predicted since the end of last season, we beat OK in Norman 2015. I stand by that prediction and think we will score 4 TDs and a field goal or two(31 to 34 points). I believe our defense in the best in the B12 and will hold the Sooners to somewhere in the 20's. They run a similar offense to ours, so it won't be something we haven't practiced against. We'll open up the playbook a little more, if not all the way, as well.

Our schedule of, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St., Baylor, TCU, Texas Tech, Texas, back to back to back is brutal. Maybe the toughest stretch for any team in the country, aside from Marshall's upcoming meat-grinder (TIC).

Win, lose, or draw.....it's awful fun to be a part of though.

Damn, you boys don't get to play Kansas and ISU, that's a bit unfair! I 'd raise hell about that!

I understand you didn't comprehend my point.... that, I'm used to. To make it simpler for you, name a college football team who has a tougher stretch of back to back games on their schedule than WVU's next 6.... It will be 4 ranked, 1 high in the "receiving votes" category, and 1 a traditional P5 powerhouse with national championships. Go ahead, give it a shot.

Name one of the next four that plays a lick of defense...not complete football teams!

As I said before, upsets happen. That is why the games are actually played.

And still infinitely better than anybody on Marshall's schedule ... probably for the next 5 years.

WhiteTail.... Tony struggles here. Don't you know, all of Marshall's opponents are "sneaky good"... and Oklahoma, Baylor, Oklahoma St., and TCU all suck? Purdue, Kent St., and Ohio U would kill all of them. Very typical of a jealous Marshall fan. It's frustrating trying to talk football with him, so the only thing left, I guess, is pure smack. After his they aren't "complete".... I've given up, and it's just pure $hit talk from now on for me..... with him at least. All I know is, I'd make a fortune betting against his prognostications, predictions, and analysis of upcoming games. He came out the other day and said, 'if you can't stop the run, you can't win'. He's a plethora of sports knowledge.

Certainly a bit of a problem for WVU last season with the Sooners....but you tell me they got it shored up, we'll see!

But according to Jeff, the results are meaningless! How can 'bama be ranked ahead of Ole Miss?
Your reading comprehension is sorely lacking. Marshall being ranked in ANY poll, after beating no one of merit, is far more atrocious than an upset happening. Sagarin's ratings aren't perfect, just like any other ranking. It does provide a fairly accurate gauge of the difference between teams and conferences, though -- FAR more accurate than Tonycried's QB scouting...

Jury is out on Mr. Howard although in the Big 12 all defense seems to be outlawed...don't hold your breath about seeing him Sunday's unless you see him in church!

I don't care at all if we see him on Sundays. There are any number of good/great college QBs that never made it in the NFL.

As long as he can run our offense and not turn the ball over too much, I'll be perfectly happy with him.

Which would make him a serviceable QB...not a good one!

Except he has done considerably better than just running the offense and not turning the ball over too much.
True but against highly questionable competition! Howrd has looked bette rthan he did in the lIberty Bowl to be fair to him , he can't control who lines up against him!

Who the heck said/thought he was going to be playing in The League? You thought he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn, and lo and behold, he led, and now is highly ranked in the country in passing efficiency. Obviously, he is much better than you assumed,
as is everything WVU. And, lightyears ahead of your boy, Birdsong.

According to you, Howard doesn't have a road start. In reality, he has thrown for 721 yards, 6 TDs, 0 Ints in his 2 road starts. The first one being his first start ever, the second a bowl game. In 5 1/2 games, Howard has thrown for 1835 yards, 17 TDs, and 1 Int.... for an average of 333 yards, 3 TDs, and .18 Int per game, going out in the 4th quarter of 3 of the starts. Pretty good for a guy with 5 1/2 starts under his belt. And, pretty good going from someone saying he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn to, "Don't hold your breath about seeing him on Sundays...."

Please, passing efficiency ratings mean nothing in college! Might mean something if they all played the same competition. Running up numbers on the poor Terps and Flames, hahahahahahaa

Had Howard played the stiffs Marshall has played, his numbers would be even better, had we not pulled him at halftime every game...

It shouldn't matter if you can't hit the broadside of a barn.... barns don't move or have a defense swarming around them.

The "POP TAX" monies go's to universities for research. Research for things like answers to the question " Does smoking crack make you fat" or "does being a Marshall fan make you stupid"...things of that ilk.
