1. Fire NB and pay the buyouts of him and most of his staff. 16M. Alot will come from KK and others. It will be a short-term burden on the finances for sure.
2. Hire Jimbo Fisher on a school friendly deal. He actually may be one of the cheapest options out there. Prior to the buyout, he was already one of the wealthiest coaches in the county. Moreover, he has already received over 30M of his buyout which does not need to be repaid if he takes another job. In fact, there is no set off language in his buyout, which means he gets paid in full even if rehired elsewhere:
Article 5.3 - "Coach will not have a duty to mitigate University's damages if this Agreement is terminated by University without Cause. Furthermore, University will not be entitled to any offset whatsoever in the event that Coach secures any subsequent employment."
This means he doesn't need the $. This also means he will demand full control over the program because he comes as a significant discount. See below.
3. He hires RR as his OC for 1.5-1.8M. Why not? He and Jimbo are close friends, and it's a way for RR to get back into the Power 5 to eventually get HC gig elsewhere if he succeeds. OC is more tolerable to the fanbase than HC and this would align the RR supporters like KK and PM with Fisher. It's a win/win for everyone.
4. Fisher has complete control to hire the remaining staff. This factor will likely rub the administration the wrong way, but that's the cost of business to make this work. Football would likely have to take more of the NIL% which may also rub people in other sports the wrong way in the short term. The thought is that, with a stronger football program, there will eventually more $ in the pot for everyone.
In 3 years, WVU will again be a top 20 program. More $ will come into the NIL. Everyone is happy.
Of course, if it fails, WVU will be further in the hole and in big financial trouble.
