Uconn has now won 5 national Titles since 1999 which is more than the Big 12 has won combined in that time period.. The new Big east has won 3 titles since its inception which is more tha the big 12 has won in that time period but thats what the numbers say right?
Every Power Five conference bombed out in March Madness. Big East isn't in Power Five, but certainly is #1 in college basketball. Proved it when it counted the most. And with blowout after blowout. Not last second shots. Give Gehghis Conn credit for a remarkable job when Power Five teams, including Big 12, were dropping like flies.

Big East has always been a basketball power the number of championships won by that conference pretty much validates that if you look at the numbers.
