WVU isn't saving anything on Coach Brown's buyout...he's working for $45,000 at Texas. Brown is also 18 years younger than RR...he'll be coaching long after RR is retired.
Brown is finally making a decent salary that fits what he's really worth. 45000 is good for someone who sucks as bad as him. That loser shouldn't sniff another million dollars in his life. Worst coach ever.
Hopefully ross hodge turns out to be something but this is totally lame on paper lol. Literally no one is excited about this hire. Zero hype but at least they got them a new choir boy..
worst coach ever doesn't have a winning record...Brown is still young and has more time to learn, grow, and improve...you'll see. He's the most organized person you'd ever want to meet. He started the 5th quarter program and his fantasy camp was a total success...much better look for the program than the annual drunk fest Holgo had at his house for donors of 10k or more. Brown will probably coach 20 more years.....at least half of the folks on this board will be dead before he stops coaching...have a nice day!

Subtract $45,000 from the buyout. It doesn't help much as the payout obligation at $9,755,707.15, which was established in his severance agreement.
I'm not happy with it considering some of the guys we missed out on, but ill get on board with the dude and see if he can duplicate his success in the Big leagues. What i do like about him is he's a defensive minded coach. What i don't like is a lack of experience. It feels like he needed another year or two at a lower level to prove more, but maybe our gamble pays off and he turns out great. I hope so. Can he recruit Big 12 caliber players?
What makes you think we missed on them? He asked them and offered them but they chose elsewhere. You can't hold a gun to their heads.
People still recruit? I thought players were bought with NIL money from the portal.
Everything makes me think we missed on them. We ended up with Ross hodge dude, lmao. Wake up. Maybe he turns out great but talk about unproven. No one even knew who this dude was until the other day. To go from a hof coach to Devries to Ross Hodge isn't really showing progress with the bball program. There are a lot of WVU fans who can convince themselves of about anything. I watched them fawn over the worst football coach in WVU history like he was the second coming until it finally got ugly and reality slapped them in the face.
You still have to recruit transfers. They don't just magically appear, do they? You really think coaches don't recruit anymore? Interesting...

I see you convinced yourself Huggins is the only coach in America. Why hasn't he won a title? Why didn't he win the Big 12? Why does he have a losing record in Big 12 play? HOF or not he destroyed his own career.
Brown was not worst coach in history, but not good either. Brown was also declared the best up and coming coach in sports at the time he was hired. He's just to analytical for a job at a P4 school.
Ross Hodge is more than capable and if you don't like it you don't have to follow.
Huggins HoF resume was mostly while he was at Cincinnati, not WVU. I would say DeVries looked like an actual upgrade to Huggins last 5-10 years. But any objective observer could see it looked like his potential was at least on par with Huggins most recent decade at WVU. WVU did miss out on 2 guys who preferred more hometown jobs. The real question is, what of Pitino and Calhoun. Did they truly chose Xavier and Utah State respectively over WVU? Or did Baker go with Hodge because he figured all 3 were equivalent and he had a pre-existing relationship with Hodge?
