What if the Big 12 is acting as an assassin for the SEC/Big10?

On another (well written) post I made earlier, The Big Ten did us a big favor by taking USC and UCLA.

Well...what if that was planned? There is now a war of attrition going on. At the same time, this is a high state game worth billions of dollars. If one conference completely finishes off another conference, lawsuits would commence.

What if the SEC takes Clemson, UNC, FSU and UVA? suddenly you have a completely destabilized ACC.

The Big 12 suddenly comes in and takes AZ, ASU, UTAH and Colorado. Bam...the PAC 12 is dead and they are off the table and the Big 10 simply walks in and offers to "save" OR and Washington.

Then the Big 12 takes Pitt, VT, Miami and UL. Bam the ACC is also dead. The Big 12 is at 20 teams and can divide into East and West (to some degree).

Why? Get rid of dead weight. Leave the NCAA and then reshuffle teams into conferences that fit better geographically. It also might be a bone to the Big 12 to let TX and OU out in 2023 as well.

Just a thought.

Then when the big12 is done with the sec/big10 dirty work, those two will finish off the big12.

Possible but at that point I don't see why. All the teams would get equal money once they leave the NCAA. They could hold their own BBall tournament. I think that is where this needs to go. The transfer and NIL bullshit has simply pulled back the veneer of the student athlete.

This is the obvious next step.

Probably not too far off base— but a certain order has to happen:

Notre Dame has to decide they are remaining independent or joining the BIG 10.

If the join the Big Ten, two things immediately happen.

The ACC is immediately destabilized and Clemson, FSU, UNC, UVA etc are heading for the door.

would guess 4 ACC teams to the SEC — they’d be at 20.

Then 2-4 to the Big Ten. If it’s just two ACC teams then that means the Big Ten has added another PAC team of which it is bound to be Stanford since they USC and UCLA and ND play every year for that 20th spot.

Then the Big Ten would be at 20.

Like you said to deliver the ACC knockout then the BIG 12 would take up to four each of the PAC and ACC to get to 20

It could be Washington and Oregon To the BIG 12, but not necessarily if Arizona, ASU, Colorado and Utah were wise enough to come onboard first. If they don’t good chance a couple of them would be left out When all is said and done. The BIg 12 also adds the schools not desired by the SEC or B10 from the ACC— some have speculated that would end the grant of rights.

You’re probably closer than you realize

Could be headed that way, but outside the top two conferences the money won’t be the same unfortunately.

The money has never been the same. Right now the BIG 12 is in the low 40’s, SEC a few mil more and the Big Ten in the 50 mil range,

The SEC signed a new ESpN deal paying around $60-$70 mil per school/ yr and the Big Ten is reportedly getting ready to do a deal in the $79-75 mil per school range. With the new money expected to come from the next playoff they are each supposed to escalate over time into the $100 mil per school range by the end of the decade.

Meanwhile reports have been the BIG 12 can expect at least in the $55-$60 mil range per school, which will also escalate and get up there with new playoff money in that $85 mil range itself— perhaps more.

but as weve seen, AcC member Clemson was able to not only get into playoffs but also win it all from the lowest paid conference, so obviously money doesn’t determine success. texass the perfect example of that as they were always the highest paid of anyone due to their BIg 12 membership. Haven’t won anything in a long time now. Probably never will again.

The BiG 12 is not in danger of being picked off but are in terrific position to be the third super conference.
There will be only two super conferences with about 24 teams each and only schools within those conferences will make the college football playoff.

Look no further than Fox and ESPN for the king pins of this destruction. NBC is now getting involved in the game as ND wants 75 million to sign with NBC so they can stay independent. If NBC turns it down does ND join the Big 10 then?

Then? Then ND joins the B1G and takes Stanford with them. B1G walks away from Wash/Ore and looks to backfill with UVA, UNC when the ACC GOR falls apart with the defection of the Domers. This takes them to 20.
4 more???? not at this time.
