What happened to this board ? So quiet

No need for me to be quiet. After all, Ohio State doesn't have to pray for a missed FG to eek out a one-point win over a middling Big 12 squad.

Shall see when the season ends. WVU hasn't exactly ran a gauntlet yet. As for Marshall the only way to salvage this season is to win out.

When is the last time Marshall "ran a gauntlet?"

Ever?

I'm not talking about Marshall am I. Have you not figured out why WVU is 4-0 and barely cracked the top 25? You have yet to play anyone that good. Your best win was KSU in which you trailed in the 4th. You played an FCS school right into the second half and Missouri who was just trounced by a bad LSU team.
Like I said the season is early and Holgerson has a way of going 0 for a month in October or November. I wouldn't get too excited just yet, we've seen WVU do this before

I don't blame you I'd stay away from this topic as well. Your inability to make an intelligent response lets me know I'm correct. You know you hadn't played anyone yet and you also know past history proves Dana is notoriously bad when you get into conference play. Time will tell if you're a contender or pretender. On the plus side the B12 is weak this year, so this may be your shot to break out of the middle of the pack

Uh huh. Speaking of playing nobody welcome to the rest of your schedule . Good luck

Missouri, BYU, YSU and Kansas State would be labeled one of the toughest 4 game stretches ever for the herd. But since we played them, we haven't played anyone. Lol.

Good news for the herd, CUSA really really sucks so maybe you can win some there and have your friends show back here to pound their chest

Yet you brag about getting votes (although not in the top 25). The whole back to back stupidity ended once there was an upgrade in competition. Reality is, MVU is not much worst than last year. By the way, we will not go 0 for in October this year.

It's too early to say that, we'll see who was good and who wasn't at the end of the year. Missouri isn't a bad team, neither is BYU and neither is KSU. They aren't great teams, but they aren't bad teams either. YSU is an FCS school and we handled them easily, which we should.

And LSU isn't a bad team by any stretch of the imagination ... they were picked to win the SEC West and be in the talk for the playoffs. They always have immense talent.

We have 3 wins over teams that aren't bad .... by comparison, when was the last time Marshall beat a team that wasn't just plain bad?

Why are all of you turning this into an MU thing? It's not, my only point is and you can not deny this you have yet to play anyone worthy enough to consider it a "signature win." You were favored in all 4 games, at 4-0 you're barely cracking the top 25. And Dana has a habit of mid season collapses. All I'm saying is don't get on your high horse just yet, it's still early and you have the beef of your schedule coming up. MU will not finish ranked, or with more votes this season, I'll concede that early. The streak is over and I'll not bring it up again this year

Arizona, Utah and UCLA all disagree. BYU beat Arizona. UCLA only beat BYU by 3 and Utah only beat BYU by 1.

Georgia also disagrees. Georgia only beat Missouri by 1.

All of these teams are better than sPitt.

Oh so we are going to play that argument. So in 2013 when we beat Maryland and they beat you by 31, are you willing to Concede that win to us? Since you want to compare the A.B.C team played this and won by this so this argument?

Those are entirely two different arguments. I'm not saying because we beat team B, who beat team C, we can beat team C; that's Marshall's expertise.

I'm saying look at the competition our opponents have played and look how they did against that competition to figure out if they are worth a damn.

For example, you lost to Akron by 27 points. Akron lost to Appalachian State.

Another example: you lost to sPitt by 16 points.

See the difference? [winking]

Maybe you never noticed just who we played last October - at Oklahoma, Oklahoma State here, at Baylor, and at TCU. All of those were top 25 teams at the time, Baylor was ranked 2nd and TCU was ranked 3rd in one poll and 5th in the other. I'm not sure if any team in the land had a tougher stretch than that on their schedule in any one month.

Maybe you also haven't noticed that WVU has won 9 of the 10 games since last October.

It means we'll both finish 7-5!

Maybe we will both finish 7-5. Somehow 7-5 with our schedule seems a little more impressive than 7-5 with your schedule...........in fact 7-5 on our schedule would be more impressive than any record the herd could end up with considering the level of their competition.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, Sir!

No not really, it's a moot point your 4 wins came against teams with a combined record of 6-8. 9-9 if you include a 3-1 FCS opponent

It's very unusual that a Marshall fan wants to discuss how weak someones schedule is. Usually the ONLY thing that matters to them is the W's and L's. While Marine is busy criticizing our 4-0 start maybe he should notice that his Herd has only one win to date, that coming at the expense of 2-2 Morgan State.

And only 5 points is the difference between our opponents being 6-8 and 9-5 (not including YSU).

You're reaching and embarrassing yourself

reaching? You obviously didn't see any of the games. Utah beat BYU by one point and BYU went for a two point conversion at the end of regulation. Georgia beat Missouri by one point. UCLA beat BYU by 3 points. That's the 5 total for three games.

That's a stark difference in losing by 27 points.
