Wasn't Millard and Childress 4 star recruits as well? Crest possibly if I recall. I'm by no means siding the WVU can't recruit naysayers. I'm just tempering my expectations given WVU seems to have more 4 star misses out of high school than hits over the last 15+ years from the cases I recall. Those misses also seem more like abysmal failures rather than just not living up to their expectations.

Geno Smith turned out ok didn't he. Perhaps a previous staff had no idea how to recruit and groom a groom a QB. 15 years? More like 10.

Sure he has yet to play. Might even flop. Odds are that doesn't happen. Entirely different staff. Question will be who transfers out because of it?

That was my point. I've seen more 4 and 5 star WVU recruits come in with high expectations be abysmal failures, not just below expectations, than those that met the 4 or 5 star recruiting ranking. I hope this kid comes to WVU and is stellar like White or Geno, but until he is in a WVU uniform and performing on the field, I have a hard time getting excited with all the disappointments in the past. So the same way Crest and Childress were "given" their ranking, so is Nicco given his. Now I definitely recognize that the previous staff couldn't develop a QB at all, but this one hasn't had a chance to prove if they can either.
