--West Virginia head coach Neal Brown said it was a medium type day, yesterday was in the stadium with a lot of 11-on-11 work and they tackled for the first time and it was full pads. This was a low practice for them. A lot of red zone and light box work where there is not a whole lot of banging. Situationally they have been intentional with working the red zone. It's a point of emphasis for them and they need to score more touchdowns down there, but they also need to get some takeaways on defense. Tomorrow is non-practice, Friday is light and Saturday will be a scrimmage and they will treat it as game-like as possible.

--Fan Day was really well ran and Brown liked the turnout with a lot of kids and a lot of smiles. It's important for the players to get exposure and the newcomers get a chance for the first time and they had over 500-plus family members that had a meal with them on Saturday. There is a lot of mingling with players and families with the fans at events like this.

--Brown said they're a work in progress with both. On defense, they have more able bodies and they are more athletic. He has been impressed with the two corners running with the ones Ayden Garnes and Garnett Hollis. Garnes makes a lot of good football plays and Hollis is one of the bigger kids they've had and he has really good length and the ability to press. They've been moving Aubrey Burks around. Anthony Wilson didn't practice today, but he's made a big step for them. He made a nice practice in the open field on Jahiem White. They needed Jahiem Joseph and Kekoura Tarnue to come on. Ke'yon Washington has came on at cornerback. Brown likes the receiver group and Preston Fox is a lot stronger and the other wide receivers are following a natural progression. Jaden Bray and Justin Robinson have added an element on the outside and DayDay Farmer is special with the ball in his hands.

--Farmer looks thin but he plays really strong. Twitch and explosiveness and he is stronger than his body type looks. He was good in 11-on-11 work.

--Light on Wyatt Milum today. Trey Lathan had a hand deal but he'll be back soon as well. Saturday and beyond is a real test.

--There is a physical component to the offensive line and you have to be able to finish. To finish blocks you have to have extreme pad level. They work on blocking and block obstruction.

--Aubrey Burks will play has safety and spear and bounce back and forth. He is splitting his reps there but he has shown some things in dime packages where they used him there he has shown the ability to play man coverage and be a difficult block on the perimeter and he is a plus blitzer.

--They always have to be a little bit different each year. They have to figure out some of the strengths at wide receiver are and philosophically do you want to do a little bit of everything or be really good at core principles. They want to be really good in some core concepts in the run game and pass game and present those in a lot of different ways. They are run first and want to marry those.

--If you look at the resume and how they finished the year and what they have coming back. Year to year if you put blind resumes up year to year that is going to get in the top 25 but he doesn't understand what gives. Some of the better players are being undervalued and they have to go prove themselves especially Garrett Greene.

--There's so much more information available. You can find play after play on social media and they have access to every game at the power four level or every NFL game. They could pull any play they wanted to see up and there is so much more information and concepts you can see so it starts there. It's not about having the first install, it's about having answers.

--Where he is from that's what they do. They do 7-on-7 year round and you don't worry about DayDay Farmer from a route tree perspective, you worry about that junction point or off the line of scrimmage and if they can win there. Then learning the other stuff about playing such as blocking on the perimeter, etc.

--They're a group that really wants to do well. They're a group that they want to consistently challenge them. It's a formidable schedule and they have to understand why they have a physical camp and they do more 11-on-11 and good on good than they've ever done because they have to be significantly better than they were in game on last year to give themselves a chance. They are playing an extremely physical schedule in the Big 12. It's about preparing for the season and they have to consistently challenge this group.

--How they approach camp and the science behind it as evolved as well as how they set up their camp days and they do a better job teaching the players. The autonomy within the staff are allowing the coaches to coach.

--It's is what it is at this point when it comes to opening with Penn State. It's a great showcase game. They'd love to ease into it, but it's not what they have. They play Penn State, they're a top ten team in the country and he went over draft boards and there are a lot of Penn State guys listed. The FOX crew is going to be here and the expectation is they have to perform.

--Returning wise Rodney Gallagher is a year away from that but he is the second guy and Brown has improved there. Preston Fox is elite at that and could maybe do it at the next level. First four days they didn't do a lot with him on defense and this year they ramped it up and they expect him to play both sides of the ball.

--Chad Scott is extremely organized and brings great energy. Scott runs every unit meeting and he does an excellent job of communicating in a team setting what the standards and expectations are and he has attention to detail and can motivate. He organizes everybody's ideas and they have organized the offensive staff as such. It's a players game still, they recruited and developed offensive line, running backs and tight ends. All of those combined and they figured out how to practice and they have really clean perimeter rules that skill guys can follow.
