--West Virginia head coach Darian DeVries said it's the same status for both forward Tucker DeVries and guard Jayden Stone.
--DeVries said that they went back to the basics with their positioning defensively, defensive rebounding and putting more emphasis on that. They came up with some new drills to get a new way to hit bodies. And offensively they cleaned up some of their sets and things with guys in different positions. They were able to go back and do some things some of the staff did at previous stops and get creative with a whole week to prepare.
--DeVries said most of it will be what you saw the other night with starting Jonathan Powell at the three. When they go big they want to put shooting around them.
--West Virginia is trying to be aggressive but there are times they get stretched and put on an island so they worked on putting pressure and not getting stretched.
--As a staff West Virginia felt that the Georgetown win had a chance to be a pretty good win because they are talented and continue to gel as a team.
--DeVries said West Virginia has done some nice things but there have been some moments you can can see some of the disconnect on offense which is what they've worked on this past week.
--Javon Small has changed his body. He's a strong kid.
--The Big 12 is a really tough league but the players have confidence in what they're doing and they came here to compete and win and that will be the goal every night.
--DeVries said without Tucker DeVries on the floor as his eyes, he said he isn't afraid to listen to everybody on the floor. But Javon Small certainly has a good feel and has really encouraged his teammates to be confident because he knows they'll need them all to have success. Small has made them look good too with his ability to create shots for himself when things break down.
--KJ Tenner has done a good job of taking advantage of the opportunities when he is in there because he guards well.
--If KJ Tenner is doing well and is on the ball, it allows to move Javon Small to move around. If they have the ability to move him off the ball and get him in different actions it's a different way teams have to defend him. There's a lot more ways to utilize him when playing different positions.
--Many of the players will go home and see a close friend or relative for the holidays. They scheduled the afternoon game to allow them to get out and they will come back Dec. 27. It's a nice break to be home for Christmas. It's a nice break to let their bodies heal up for a big stretch run.
--DeVries said they have been careful in practice because they have been shorthanded and cut down on some live body on body stuff to protect.
--Aden Nelson will join the team again since football is over.
--DeVries said they will rely on the medical team to make those decisions if Tucker DeVries needs to redshirt or what will happen. It would still be a possibility.
