--West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins said it was a hard game to play and there were so many stoppages in play and he thought they handled it pretty well.

--Huggins said he didn’t want the turnover at the end of the game. He drew it up for them twice at the end a very simple thing, which unquestionably would have worked. They had five guy inside the foul line. They were going to L-cut on the side, more to hold those guys, and set a back screen for a guy at the top of the screen he runs at the ball and the guy that sets the screen runs to the other end of the floor and catches it and scores. But he never moved.

--Iowa State went after the same guy in man and match up. They watch film too; they know who guards and who doesn’t guard. Just like they know. They set that back screen for Malik and all they had to do is circle around the basket, throw it up to Dimon Carrigan and dunk it. Guys started creeping in so Malik gets double teamed and they didn’t get what they wanted because some guys obviously think it’s more important that they get a shot instead of spreading people out to execute what they want to execute.

--Malik Curry was very good. Keddy Johnson tried to play but there was just no way he could play.

--It didn’t have to be a lob. If they circle, that guy is going to be facing Malik as he comes down the lane, their back guy. You don’t run in front of him, you run behind him and circle behind him and generally what happens is he takes a step up and Malik hits the guy and scores.

--You don’t throw the ball under the basket any shape or form, but you shouldn’t have a guy standing there to set a screen or fake a screen and run to the other end.
