--West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins said that Taz Sherman is in concussion protocol so he has no idea if he will be able to play tomorrow.

--Sherman is one of the best players in the league so not having him would affect them. He is more concerned about his welfare than trying to rush him back soon.

--Huggins doesn’t know how much he can say about the protocols, but he hasn’t been involved it’s all handled by the medical group. They will decide what the protocol for concussions are. Sherman has not practiced and has been in the protocol all week.

--Huggins has not heard anything about what had him so upset after the game Tuesday. That isn’t unusual.

--You see the teams a lot and they try the best they can do to get them ready to play against who they’re going to play and that changes from game to game. They have some freshmen that could be really good players here and they’ve been trying to get them playing time.

--Those freshmen need to be players long term. James Okonkwo continues to get better every day, while Jamel King is one of the best shooters on the team.

--Huggins said the team has been fine in practice but it’s difficult when you lose a player of Sherman’s caliber. They have moved some people around to try to give them the best chance to win. You have to work with the guys you have and get them as ready as you possibly can.

--Players doing the scouting has improved but it’s not what he wants to see.

--Huggins said he has a list bigger than Santa Clause with his concerns.

--Isaiah Cottrell has been good. He initially wanted to fashion himself as more of a perimeter guy but the reality is that would be difficult for him to do at this stage. Not saying he couldn’t grow into it, but not in a year. He was a guy that moved around on the perimeter and shot threes. He’s capable, but he hasn’t shot it as well as he expected to shoot it but you’re not playing high school anymore.

--Huggins said it can’t just be Sean McNeil. Jamel King is going to be a part of it. Those are the guys off the ball to help replace the scoring of Taz Sherman if he can’t play.

--West Virginia is in a situation where they need the young players. There is a huge difference between want and need. You can want something, but you can do without it.

--The reason they’re in the shape that they’re in is because they didn’t rebound it and they threw the ball to the other team. You take those two things away and they’ll be pretty good, but you obviously can’t do that.

It takes more than 1/2 a year to transform a perimeter big into a foot in the paint big. Cottrell has yet to find the role that fits him best. He's got the size to play inside but not the attitude. You can see why he wants to play outside, that's where he thrived at HP.
