--West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins said that the team is throwing it around a lot, and it hasn’t been a great week for their passing abilities. They’re trying to get ready for Texas A&M and get better on offense and the defensive ends of the floor.

--Huggins said he talked to the person overtop the tournament once Ohio State dropped out and they have already picked up another team in St. Mary’s that will play Memphis in the second game of the day. There is a lot of people looking to get into multiteam events, so it isn’t hard to fill.

--Conference officials said that the Big 12 schedule wouldn’t be out for a while, but they put it out regardless which isn’t really a surprise given how wild things have been.

--Huggins believes his team has been good. When they have a day off, they’ve been in the gym working. They have already dug into Texas A&M for preparation and they have a lot of size.

--Kedrian Johnson is in a process improving right now but he’s getting better and better and is talented. He is the fastest guy on the team but right now he is thinking too much instead of just reacting. Still, Huggins believes that he is going to be a talented player.

--Huggins believes that Oscar Tshiebwe and Derek Culver have played together well in practice and are generally on the same team which is good for them and the other bigs on the roster. They’ve been working together offensively which is a win-win.

--West Virginia hopes that they have an advantage in the multi-team event because they can play a lot more people than their opponents which should make them fresher and have livelier legs.

--Huggins felt that Jalen Bridges could have helped the team last year and knowing what they know now they probably would have knowing that this year wouldn’t count.

--Isaiah Cottrell has to get better with his overall physicality. It’s a big difference between the high school level and this one but he is learning and developing in that area while improving as a rebounder. He makes it hard to clog things up on the floor because he can step out and hit shots.

--Huggins wants to win so they’re going to do what they need to do in order to accomplish that. Not having a scrimmage and an exhibition game makes it tough for the newcomers to get any experience so it makes it hard to trust some of them early on in the season. That will be decided by the opposition and what it takes to win the game, but each of them do bring something that the Mountaineers need.

--When it comes to recruiting, they’ve been on a lot of the virtual visits and they’re kind of neat. You can show the recruits everything they have at the school, but he likes being able to sit down and talk to people face-to-face. So, he hopes that it doesn’t become a fixture of what they do.

--West Virginia did not shoot well enough from three last year but believes Sean McNeil and Taz Sherman can really shoot the ball. Jalen Bridges can make shots and he would be totally stunned if they didn’t have a good year shooting the ball from beyond the arc. But the reality is he wants to them to built for the days that they aren’t able to put the ball in the basket.
