Way too early Starters Next Year thread

He is walking at Senior Night. Just accept it
i'll believe that when i see it, but take this from a guy who covered the nba for years.....if he does go pro after this year, he will will be playing next year in bulgaria or for the albany patroons or a facsimile thereof.....he does not have the skills needed to play power or small forward in the league and he's not nba center material......great kid, but he needs a lot more seasoning.....he should come back next year.....i would have a hard time believing someone in the nba with real knowledge about what it takes to stick would tell him he would be among the top 60 picks.....now if he knows that and is going to play in europe somewhere, for example, then you might be right in guessing he will leave.....just hope he doesn't leave with nba dreams.....if he does, he will be making a bad and ultimately disappointing move for himself and for wvu next year......

The rumors have always been Europe, not NBA.

Devin's Mom lives here in town with him and they need the money a European contract can provide.
He is leaving. I don't blame him at all because he is not going to get any better or improve his status by staying another year.
We have two seniors in Paige and Holton. We have three signed letters of intent in Bender, Konate, and Harler.
We still might have attrition too from what I hear, maybe open up a slot for a Juco Big............

that would be fantastic. I assume you are talking about that harold guy, can't recollect his last name without looking it up.

IMO, there's a reason a kid that good hasn't committed anywhere yet............ he's waiting to see what our roster looks like

I grew up living about 40 miles from the Mountain Mission in Grundy, VA. Grundy (Buchanan County, VA) was a place that didn't take to a bunch of junk from outsiders. I never was threatened to be sent there for 'formal' training but I was threatened with Prunytown real often. And yes, I pulled a little time in Prunytown where I worked for the governor for about 2 years or more.

Until Devin Williams announces he is leaving early, he will be the starter. I know a few of you "think" you have the inside information, but nothing is official YET.
I don't even understand why Devin is thinking about leaving. He is far far far from playing pro ball anywhere that he would make much money. I know he wouldn't agree, but his best bet is to get a free degree to fall back on. Oh well, good luck to him if he decided to go...but really?

people keep posting this like Devin is majoring in something that actually is beneficial.......... He's an MDS major... Multi-Disciplinary-Studies.

That's WVU's way of letting athletes major in "General Studies" for 4 years. As I've posted before, the average salary (entry-level) for someone with a degree in MDS right out of school would be less than 1/3 of what he'll make when he signs overseas.

But even still................. why in the world do posters keep talking like Devin Williams will be barred from ever returning to WVU to finish his degree if the pro ball doesn't work out? Better yet........ there's this thing called the internet........... it lets you finish college from anywhere in the world.

Devin can and will figure out how to score. Scoring doesn't involve lowering the shoulder and he knows it. Devin needs that degree more than he needs a vacation in Europe.

The Undergraduate MDS is available online @ WVU.

You belittle people post after post but where are you when it comes time to apologize for being wrong?

ok. I was wrong............ it became apparent that WVU wasn't going to let Williams walk on Senior night last week.... I guess I should have circled back and corrected this post.

Yes, you were. And you continue to act like you know everything and that everyone else are just peons in the world of WVU athletics.

Phillip
Carter
Ahmad
Adrian
Macon

but it will be just like this year as far as "starting" goes. I expect Myers, Miles, Bender, Konate, Bolden to get lots of minutes.

Myers and Miles will be our Paige and Phillip next year coming off the bench.

Miles is not leaving the starting lineup...

And Myers is not a backup PG....bolden will be

I won't be shocked if Bolden ends up starting at point. We play 3 guard lineup a lot so that leaves plenty of floor time for Carter, Miles, Myers and Phillips to rotate at all 3 spots. The key is which of those guys can play low like Paige?

Yeah, well maybe he'll make some pocket change for a few years as a pro and have some fun and give his family a couple bucks, and then I'm sure he'll come back at some point and get his degree like every kid leaving early has done.....not. College degrees are almost like high school diplomas 30 years ago. For the most part, can't get a decent job without one. Most of these kids don't think through thinks like where do I want to be in 10 years kind of things....hell, I didn't. Devin seems like a good kid, and just saying I think someone is giving him terrible advice about his basketball ability and future career. But, I haven't a clue what his plans are, so all hypothetical I guess.

Devin can finish his degree online while playing overseas. His entire program is offered online.....

Huggins has had every single player short of Ebanks come back and finish their degree while at WVU btw...

I'm sure everyone would say Devin should stay if he can stay. Sad for the kid if he feels he must leave school to help his family, but that seems unlikely in this day and age. If he just wants to hurry up and start earning 40-50k a year, he's making a helluva mistake.

What is the tuition and fees for online classes for a year?

DramaBoy...........................just to update you.............No, Johnnie West is no longer a part of the WV team...............just like you ain't part of this board! Just being transparent.

Jevon
Dax
Esa
Nate
Elijah

Tarik
Teyvon
Lamont
Magic
Brandon

Beetle
Chase
Sagaba

I wouldn't change Tarik's role and keep him coming off the bench with Teyvon. Beetle will need to ease into playing comin off his injury. Lamont and Magic will be needed to immediately contribute ready or not. I hear they will continue to press.

My thoughts anyway.
