Wague, King Lead Gold Team in Gold-Blue Debut

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (October 14, 2022) – Mohamed Wague had 12 points and Jamel King added 10 points to lead the Gold team to a 37-31 victory over the Blue team in the Gold-Blue Debut, presented by Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, at the WVU Coliseum Friday night in front of approximately 5,000 fans.

Wague was 6-of-8 from the field and added eight rebounds, two steals and two blocks. James Okonkwo had eight points, Joe Toussaint had four points and a game-high five assists and Erik Stevenson had three points for the Gold team.

Kedrian Johnson had a game-high 14 points and six rebounds to lead the Blue team. Jimmy Bell Jr. and Seth Wilson had six points each, while Josiah Davis and Josiah Harris had two points each. Harris also pulled down six rebounds. Kobe Johnson had one point for the Blue team.

The two teams played two 12-minute halves with a running clock. Emmitt Matthews Jr. (shoulder), Patrick Suemnick (knee) and Tre Mitchell (foot) did not participate in the scrimmage.

The Mountaineers will return to the Coliseum in two weeks for a charity exhibition game against Bowling Green on Friday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the Norma Mae Huggins Cancer Research Endowment Fund.
