vingle usually follows the wvu sports media's soft parade when covering the 'eers and especially its coaches.....this time, to his credit, he doesn't pull some punches.....maybe mike cassaza is rubbing off on him.....vingle has it right this time, imo......

wvu (seven forced turnovers) played like the 14th-seeded team last night.....the team with the deer-in-the-headlights look.....the team that wilted under late-game pressure......

sfa (22 forced turnovers) played like the 3rd-seeded team.....the team that toughed its way to a first-round ncaa win by taking charge late in a game where both teams shot about 30 percent from the field.....and although they were facing a likely hall-of-fame coach.....the sfa staff also won the coaching battle......

no excuse. SFA shot 30.9 percent and won by 14. name another upset team that did that.

WV shot 30.8. Walkup is not Larry Bird nor is he Niang, Hield, Prince, etc. we gifted the game via 22 turnovers. at least half were unforced giveaways from carelessness with the ball that they turned into easy buckets.

according to our team afterward, chemistry fell apart. zero preparedness, respect, intensity, focus on this game. playing against each other, says Phillip, rather than vs SFA. the Brooklyn theme was vastly overrated.

who would've thought we out-rebound them by 15 and lose by 14?

compared with last year's team, i now have to consider this team as an underachiever that leaves a bad taste, despite what it accomplished during the regular season.....despite the top 10 finish.....last year's team went to the sweet 16 with a win over maryland.....this year's team lost in the first round to a 14th-seed from the third-to-worst-ranked conference in the country.....unfair as it may seem, teams like this year's wvu squad ultimately are judged by what they did in the big dance.....in that regard, it was a collapse.....i feel fortunate to have alma mater xavier.....which advanced to the second round......
