Surprised Cincinnati/Houston got those kind of numbers, since they were on at same time as SEC game. Lots of fans in Houston area though.

THE TV NUMBERS PRETTY MUCH MATCH THE COMPARATIVE POPULATION NUMBERS FOR OKLAHOMA, TEXAS, KANSAS AND WEST VIRGINIA. IF WVU DOESN'T HAVE AS MANY EYEBALLS IN THE STATE AS THE OTHER SCHOOLS THEN WHY IS ANYONE SURPRISED THAT WVU GAMES DON'T GET AS MANY EYEBALLS ON TELEVISED GAMES?

I'm guessing it's because WVU isn't playing other teams in WV. You know, if they play on TV against say, Ohio State, everybody in Ohio will also be watching, which drives up the numbers for WVU.

And all those years comparing Marshall vs WVU in football to other rivals like USC-UCLA, Oregon-Oregon State, etc. to get a series that would be “good for the state”.

Not exactly--in 2018 WVUs tv numbers were excellent: 27.183 million viewers. Alot of it has to do with how well you are playing.

Huh, who is talking about Marshall/WVU now or comparing it to USC/UCLA ever?

Like the OK State/Baylor numbers because it shows the BIG 12 CCG is still more popular than i.e. the ACC and PAC games. Hard to say those conferences have more value when you doubled them up in viewership numbers.

Marshall fans, whom I was addressing.
You're not making sense, coach. Just checked out ratings of some Herd-WVU games, and those had decent national draws, but mostly due to being on a Friday night, Labor Day, but even Saturday games did pretty good. Better than say, Kansas-WVU football game.
