In February, West Virginia landed plenty of skill talent, with ESPN 300 receiver Jovon Durante and cornerback Tyrek Cole headlining a top 40 class. The Charleston Gazette's Dave Hickman, however, says one skill player flying under the radar could wind up making the biggest splashof them all.

That's Gary Jennings, a junior-college wide receiver.

Jennings was only given three stars. But he was the exclamation point on West Virginia's recruiting class, signing with the Mountaineers in the final hour over Notre Dame, Wisconsin and Virginia.

"When Jennings did announce his decision it was probably the highlight of signing day for West Virginia’s coaches," Hickman wrote. "Both head coach Dana Holgorsen and wide receivers coach Lonnie Galloway -- especially Galloway -- raved about Jennings that day."

Holgorsen and Galloway have a track record with unheralded juco receivers, including Kevin White, who in two years went from under-the-radar signee to All-American and top 10 draft pick.

With White now gone, Jennings will have ample opportunity to make an immediate impact. And as Hickman pointed out in his feature, Jennings appears to have "the maturity, intelligence and polish" to give the Mountaineers just that.
