Imagine if Pitino turns us down too. Wren is running out of options and will probably try really hard to sign him. This would be fkn hilarious and fitting and I hope it happens. This has become a clown show. They really messed up firing Huggins 😅
Wvu was the #1 party school in all of America for many years and still ranks high. This school has produced tons of students who got dui and worse actually, for decades. For the folks so down on Huggins over his DUI, perhaps it's best you stop being a fan of WVU in general. It just may not be the best fit for you. The irony in how hard they are trying to distance themselves from Huggins, who embodies the typical wvu student/grad better than literally anyone else, looks retarded and pointless.

Huggins deserved to be fired (actually resigned). He was told not to screw up and embarrass the university again. Guess what, he screwed up a month later and embarrassed the university even worse than the first time.
Nobody wants to rebuild from scratch after previous coach destroyed what he was building. They should have promoted Frazier.
But promoting assistant coaches to be a head coach at a top-conference school isn't going to win games or attract talent. It just doesn't work...........
Who recruited the players that are hitting the portal now? Are we a top conference? Big 12 didn't get 14 of 16 in the tournament. Hodge has seven total years of head coaching experience, only two of which came at the Division I level. He was a junior college head coach from 2006-11, spending three years at Paris JC where he went 83-17, and two years at Midland College where he logged a record of 63-7. Impressive certainly, but that was well over a decade ago, in the old era of college basketball, and at a much lower level.
If a coach only has two years of experience and is being considered for a Power Five job, he either has an incredible record or a handful of significant wins that turn heads. Hodge is 0-2 versus ranked opponents. This year, North Texas went 0-4 against NCAA Tournament teams. Last year he went 0-6. Could he still be successful at West Virginia? Sure, but the deeper fans dig into his profile, the harder it's going to be to convince them he's the right guy for the job.
Only one difference between Hodge and Frazier is one has few years as HC. A total of 6 years as a JC coach at Paris JC and Midland (3 each) and 12 years as an assistant at Division 1 schools Southern Miss, Colorado State, Arkansas State, North Texas. Now 2 years at North Texas in CUSA, perhaps the worst conference of any around.
Is it really anymore of a risk than Frazier? Might as well hire Huggins for a case of beer on a daily basis. At least you save some money for NIL.
