As an ex college QB, I want to chime in on the decision making process for Power 5 Conferences to have fall sports, or not. Certainly, the number one responsibility of College Presidents is to create a learning environment most conducive to positive outcomes. That of course includes the safety of all students. However, it can be argued that the student athlete, at the power 5 level, has a unique set of criteria to enhance their safety. Especially in this time of the Covid-19 Pandemic. It all comes down to, can Covid-19 be transmitted via sweat. There has yet to be any Power 5 athlete or Professional athlete that has contracted Covid-19 and been hospitalized. Unlike Influenza, where age groups of 25 and under have a much higher rate of hospitalization than from Covid-19. In addition, are we going to stop them from dancing at house parties, dating, and God forbid Sex; their additional free time exposes them to higher risk for many diseases, including Covid-19. Play on!
