Those who criticized Mullen's offense.....what about today's?

WVU has played up/down to its competition over the years. That's on the coaches, for the most part, but it's spanned multiple coaching tenures so it's not JUST Holgerson. Also, many many programs have that same issue. See any/all P5 schools struggling to beat and, at times, losing to FCS opponents that are supposed to be slam-dunk W's. It happens. Team got UP for Mizzu, meh to YSU and will be ROCKIN in DC in 2 weeks. It's hard to be "up" for a Youngstown State game

Please list all of Mullen's 38+ point games, 624-yard games, and 5-TD pass games.

Hint: there were (2) 38+ games in 3 years (see Villanova 2008, UNLV 2010).

In 2 of his last 3 games, Howard has had 10 TD passes, 921 yards and 81 points.

In three games, nearly 1,200 yards passing.

It was still 90 degrees at 6pm Saturday in Morgantown.

Mullen might have managed a TD or 2.

Remember the Champs Bowl vs. an ACC chump? (7 points)

Remember the Orange Bowl the next year vs. the ACC champ (70 points, all-time bowl record)?

Oh BTW, #2 Clemson got 30 at home Saturday vs. the mighty men from Troy (4-8 in 2015).

Won by 6.

Yeah, let's open up the entire playbook (when it's not needed) so future opponents can have everything on film.....................

Bingo. WVU wasn't about to show BYU any more than it could see on tape against Mizzou.

There were a couple of formations on offense to make the Cougars go "Hmmm.. what's up with that?" to screw with their prep after they finish up with UCLA, but that's coaching hijinks. You want the opponent to think anything is possible to screw with their prep.

In conference it's not going to make a heck of a lot of difference. Those teams know exactly what WVU has in it's bag of tricks and visa-versa. It's more like playing your cousins in the backyard before Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone knows who can do what and what they've got up their sleeves.

Do you all truly believe this? Whatever plays we run against BYU we have ran in the past. Guaranteed.

WVU got a new offense coordinator in the off-season. It's hard to tell what Wickline has in his bag of tricks.

Did you see QB sneak out of the shotgun from Dana before Saturday? The break up field McKoy scored on out of the two wide split that they'd been using to lead for for screens and use for quick sideline passes since last season? That's a new twist on an established set. Both very likely inserted in the second half to get into the heads of people out west who don't post on bulletin boards. More to think about, more to prepare for.

Football coaches aren't the brightest bunch in the world, but they're tricky SOB's. Car salesmen and Army recruiters with bigger salaries.

I hope we see some different things in conference play. Especially playing Texas, where I got to believe he can figure out the weaker spots on their defense given he practiced against it daily.

Also I hope he shores up some of the perceived weak spots in our offense from the other side of the fence.

Meanwhile, OP's false god nearly lost to Grambling State
I must admit that Rich Rod is not moving in the right direction. Rod has always done his best when he had WVU guys on his staff. He ALWAYS throws his defense under the bus for poor play but never takes responsibility for his lack of offensive play or his issue for hurting overall team moral by yelling, screaming and throwing kids under the bus.

Remember gang, it was WVU that added coaches and administrative help to give kids more emotional support in the back ground because Rod has a history of running moral down. WVU was a prefect fit for Rod but he did not see the truth.

Do you really think Wickline is our actual OC? Dana is and will be the OC until he is gone. Wickline is a good coach but he is our OC in title only.
