I propose that we let them dream their little dreams and spout their little insults...it's actually kind of cute in a whiny sort of way

You could try holding your breath until the phone rings..............or tell us we can bring a dog............or deliver another "d'antoni doctrine". Those things worked pretty well for you in the past, didn't they?
I know I won't wait around for a call, particularly after seeing the cousins fall once again to another mid-major program in the dance. One has to figure Huggy has seen his fair share of mid majors in the dance, so no sense playing one on its way back in December or January. I'm not sure, but I think Danny made it loud and clear to Coach Huggins. Come to Huntington, or you're scared.
To put this into terms you might be able to understand - D'antoni demanding WVU to play in Huntington is like what it would be if WV Wesleyan demanded that Marshall visit Buckhannon and if they don't it's because they are afraid.
Fact is you don't need WV Wesleyan and wouldn't agree to that, and another fact is that WVU doesn't need Marshall.
It's not WVU's job to sell tickets at the Cam.
That analogy might be more persuasive if Wesleyan was a D-1 team, which of course they are not! Ain't but two heavyweights in the state. But if you boys don't want to enter the squared circle, so be it!
Some day the Cousins may win something of note besides BB gun shooting...I know I'll be rooting for that day!
It would also be more persuasive if Marshall had gone 0-5 playing at Wesleyan like wvu had done at Marshall.
We understand why your drunk coach is scared. He knows better coaches at wvu couldn't even win in Huntington. They were embarrassed so much in the past that their own players were quitting in the middle of the game and cheering for Marshall.

I have a bunch of friends that are Hoosier friends. They too are getting a little afraid of playing the 'Dogs from Indy, so I can kind of see where the cousins are coming from. They tell me it hurts losing to the in-state Dogs so often.
I'm just glad MSU doesn't withdraw from the Big Ten, because I would hate not seeing those two heavy weights face off a few times a year.

There is only one "heavyweight" in the state, and that is WVU. Everyone outside of Cabell County knows it.
At some level, I guess I get their position ....if you don't play, you can't lose! But WTF, it's just a basketball game, nothing more!

You got that right, especially the not at all part. Huggs schedules games with people he likes. He doesn't have much respect for glorified high school coaches like D'antoni.
Your coach is the one who stuck his foot in his mouth and caused the end of the series. I'm wondering if that's not what he was hoping would happen all along. Even glorified high school coaches (all but ONE) know better than to poke at the Huggy Bear !

Revisionist history....Huggy was looking for a reason to take a powder, so acts offended when MU suggests a home and home , and then blames Danny for even suggesting it.
A more realistic version of your fairy tale is that future Hall of Fame basketball coaches don't take kindly to glorified high school basketball coaches making childish threats. Which results in no WVU game for you - not in Charleston, not in Huntington, and not in Morgantown. But you still have that WV Wesleyan thing going for you, at least there is something West Virginia involved in that.
