Third Varsity Eight Boat Named Athletes of the Week
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (May 4, 2015) -Members of the West Virginia University Third Varsity Eight boat have been named the Varsity Sports Report Athletes of the Week.
In the morning session, the Third Varsity Eight crew ofIrene Darkwaah,Sarah Mitchell,Elizabeth Hooper,Mollie Fisher,Lorena Rose,Addie Dulaney,Marika Hoskins,Kaitlyn Easonand coxswainCourtney Caughposted a time of 7:55.260 to finish sixth in its heat to advance to the Petite Final at the EAWRC Sprints on Sunday, May 3.
As the No. 11-seed, the Mountaineers finished eighth out of 13 crews and second in its Petite Final in front of Holy Cross, Rutgers and Buffalo with a time of 7:31.231.
The Mountaineers sent out a total of four boats to the prestigious competition, as the EAWRC Sprints marked its 41th annual regatta in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
