The Pac-12 is now, by far, the fifth of the Power 5 Conferences, especially in college football. But still those rumors of the Pac-12 going after the Big 12 is back.

The Pac-12 will target for expansion and four Big 12 teams made the list:

No. 6 Texas Tech
No. 4 Oklahoma State
No. 2 Kansas
No. 1 Oklahoma

As great at Oklahoma has been sports-wise in the Big 12, the league is still owned by Texas. That’s the anchor tenant.

It might be USC’s Pac-12, but Oklahoma would be something different thanks to the geography and style. All of a sudden, the school would take on a new profile, that region would would have a different sports look, and the Pac-12 would love, love, LOVE to have a football program this big in the central time zone.

It would take something crazy, cool, and lucrative to get Oklahoma to think about this, but that’s what George Kliavkoff appears to be all about.”

What’s the benefit to any of these Big 12 teams in leaving a conference where they are making more money than they currently would in the Pac-12, have a much easier travel schedule in their conference, and appear to have more continuity than the conference has had in years,

It might all sound good, and yes, Kliavkoff is likely going to try and make a big splash, but there has to be something to gain for both sides in a monumental move like this. And for the Oklahoma Sooners, who own the Big 12, make north of $40 million in TV rights each year, and despite what Fiutak writes, I believe has equal power with Texas in the Big 12, where is their incentive?

There is non incentive.

But regardless, don’t kid yourself. Conference realignment rumors are coming back as we approach the end of the current conference TV deals in the next 2-4 years.

That means Texas and Iowa State to the B1G, if that were to happen. Or, if Texas were to go independent, then Iowa State and WVU.

Texas is going to the ACC/SEC
ESPN is the reason

This is why PAC/B1G won’t get them.

Most likely the ACC

All of this is PAC talking big truthfully.

Texas would probably go to the ACC, where they could actually go back to winning. They know they can't win football or basketball games in the B1G, and certainly cannot win football games in the SEC.

Maryland would love to see Texas join the B1G though, and truth be told, Rutgers probably would welcome them with open arms as well.

B1G isn’t that good of a conference.

1 CFP team
0 Final 4 teams in men’s or women’s basketball
0 Women’s College World Series schools
Most likely 0 College World Series schools

Texas has been the only school who was ranked in all 5 to end the season.

I see you only went back to the current calendar year.

Now do the same for say, the last 5 years, or even better, for the last years since the inception of the CFP.

None of that really changes...

B1G is fighting an uphill battle in numerous sports.
Have to look at the demographics of this country. Where people are moving to?
Where athletes are coming from?

B1G like I have said numerous times has a few schools they can bring in
But all those schools are under contract with ESPN

When they took Maryland...They should have taken more than just one piece.
Maryland got them on the doorstep but also got the ACC in the ESPN camp

No...
Texas embarrassed Maryland a lot more.
Didn’t even give them a Home Game.
Was a home game for Texas and then a neutral site.
B1G school treated like G5

The scoreboard laughs hysterically at TrollVanZandt. Maryland embarrassed has-been Texas in both venues, and would have beaten them on the Moon, too. Once might be an accident, but two times is a trend. Nobody does less with more than Texas.

Still doesn’t matter
Maryland agreed to play Texas in a NFL stadium before both games.

B1G isn’t a great conference athletically and this is being noticed more and more.

That was their Super Bowl.
Both seasons proved that because Maryland didn’t do too much after that.

They did the same thing in 2019. Beat Syracuse 77-10 or something and then disappeared.

Nobody cares where the games are played. Maryland embarrassed Texas in Austin and Baltimore. The Terps annually battle Rutgers to stay out of the B1G East's basement. But then again, Texas can't win its conference, either. Big brother Boomer Sooner sees to that every year. Iowa State appears to be better than Texas, too.

Actually played in DC at FedEx Field

Regarding the rest. Who cares?

B1G still sucks.

But the fact remains that Texas cannot go to the B1G without ESPN letting go of the LHN.
ESPN won’t. Because the B1G is owned by FOX.

Have to look at these conferences/schools through their TV deals

B1G FOX
SEC ESPN
ACC ESPN
PAC 12 no one. PAC 12 owns the TV rights
Texas ESPN

WVU should have done the same thing😂

Screw playing in College Park
Let’s play at FedEx.
Revenue is a big deal when you put the game at a neutral site

Do your homework, then get back to me. FOX only owns about half of the B1G Network, but boy has that Saturday noon game chocked up some fine ratings. If it sucks to win CFP games, then you can only dream of sucking, fake Texas fan, as you haven't had a sniff of a CFP game, let alone a win in one. Let me know when ya'll lose your CFP virginity, but until then, stop embarrassing yourself with your false bravado.

😂

B1G since 2000
2 Football NC
1 Basketball NC
0 Baseball NC

Texas by themselves have won that many

Just a stupid argument all around.

If you can’t see the issues with the B1G don’t know what to tell you.

Yes FOX is a major player....They give the conference that platform.
ESPN doesn’t want to add to the platform .

They don’t want the B1G to gain access in talent rich states with growing populations

Few of those schools
Texas
Virginia
UNC
Georgia Tech
Florida State

Even Clemson has respectable academics even though it isn’t an AAU school

The CFP era started in 2014, so stop data mining, TrollVanZandt. Texas hasn't even been invited to the CFP. You're living in the distant past because ZERO wins in the CFP era is so embarrassing for you.

Big time football programs don't need to hide behind conference affiliation. That's only for the schools that can't stand alone, such as Texas, Oklahoma's step-sister.

You are talking about the biggest piece of the pie
Correct. But in arbitrary terms

Remember this as well....College Basketball actually brings in more money
But that goes to the NCAA.

If things change in basketball it can be just as important as football..
Why you see so many schools putting money in basketball

That piece of the pie can be the same

Then you have other sports that generate revenue

Women’s basketball
Softball
Baseball

None of the schools I mentioned play hockey

Maryland, on occasion plays a few select home games in the local professional stadiums. I think the last time they beat WVU was actually at the Ravens stadium in Baltimore. You do realize Baltimore is in Maryland, and that Redskins stadium is a short drive from College Park, right?

It is based on revenue...
When you make a scheduling agreement with a university you discuss revenue
Neutral site games put money in both school’s pockets.

This is coming from people in the know...
If something does happen to the Big 12. Texas to the B1G is a no go.

This is why this is a Pipe Dream for the PAC. Because OU and KU could end up in the B1G. Especially KU.
You always have Missouri.

University of Kansas is actually an AAU school

OU does conduct a lot of research...Just not enough to be an AAU school
They are well connected to the National Weather Service. Similar to Maryland. Penn State is actually the #1 school in that field.

But their university would love to improve their academic image.
Why the B1G is so appealing to them
But the B1G would be filling their last two seats with OU and KU. I don’t know if that is actually something they want.

This is why I go back to Texas.
They will determine what happens with the Big 12
Only way I see something happening without them is Kansas leaving for the B1G with Mizzou

Clearly the article went unread by TVZ. Clearly the title says rumor and article clearly states Big 12 makes money.

ACC is playing waiting game with ND and only laughing at TVZ who claimed earlier this year USC was a lock for Big 12.

TVZ also well brain dead.

Who said lock?

ND plays a major part in what happens. Same as USC.
That is NDs biggest rival

If anything happens between the ACC and Texas it will be because of the chance it can be a National Conference.
If that conference is called the Big 12,14 or 16 or the ACC. Who knows
But the Big 12 schools own the naming rights to the Big 12,14 or 16

Whatever the path is...

This is what a few of these big name schools outside of the B1G and SEC are thinking.
USC leaving the PAC was always going to be an issue with Stanford.

Stanford is trying to make moves to keep the conference together
But it is all talk
USC wants to recruit Texas, Louisiana, Georgia and Florida.

Because the amount of talent they have instate is on the decline
Reason why 50% of their staff has connections to Texas

USC is looking National. Regardless.

Just all talk.
Similar to them hiring Larry Scott. A guy outside of college football who doesn’t have a clue

Got to love summer and the rumors from media looking for clicks.
Indeed. I'm loving the fact that there's a poster on this forum that's continuing the Texas fandom charade for like the 3rd consecutive year. Even the Blacksmith's Tools from the old outhouse forum gave up on Penn State after three months. That, or was banned after three months.

The trolls here are so easy to bait. It's like playing that old carnival game whack a mole. Start a thread and the multi kid rolls in with it's fan club of 1 and argues with itself changing the thread completely. It's amazing to witness.

Wonder what numbers game CFE puts on it to make himself look smart but doesn't realize it makes him look lame?

The Big 12 Conference's 3 man team of Gee, the Texas Prez and the TTech Prez just got done getting that very extensive report on all this from their media consultant.
That consultant, if you google him, has a very vast amount of experience in the media rights field.
Anyway, that consultant did a SWOT analysis of the situation......i.e., Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.
You can bet your butt that any and all threats to the Big 12 were covered extensively in that report. ALSO, the Opportunities would have covered as well........i.e., such things as the realistic chance of luring other P5 schools to the Big 12.

Luring other P5 schools will be the only reason Big 12 would expand.

Rumors will always be and the sky will be in danger of falling, but his article is nothing more than click bait and fantasy. He may as well have said the Big 12 is rumored to be going after at least two SEC teams. One is no more ridiculous than the other.
