Holgorsen was put in a really tough position from the start. Oliver Luck did some wonderful things while at WVU but forcing Stewart to accept Dana as HCIW was not one of them. It is ill-conceived and a disaster in waiting. Upon taking over Holgorsen had assistance openly defying him and half the fan base against him. He won over many by years end. He navigated the program into the B12, upgrading the overall depth and talent. WVU has consistently finished in the upper half of the B12. He leaves WVU in much better shape than he found it. Whoever takes his place is settle up for success. 2019 might be rough but the pieces are in place for a great program.
It is time for Holgorsen to move on though. I don’t think he can move the program ahead any further than he has. I think he’s probably peaked as a coach.
