The CFP rankings are a joke

WMU rowing to Cotton Bowl to play Big 10 runner-up Wisconsin

A runner-up is a participant who finishes in second place in any of a variety of competitive endeavors

Hmmmm! I thought Big10 2nd place went to Rose Bowl and 3rd place went to Orange Bowl and 4th place to Cotton Bowl. Where is Wisconsin playing again?

Was that WMU or Big10? Is a runner up always 2nd? Or can there be multiple runner ups to a champion? Get back to me!!!

And I thought the runner up, 2nd place team, yes they are the same by definition, in the PAC went to the Rose Bowl.

See how your logic is terribly flawed?

The headline made it very clear that Wisconsin was the Big 10 runner up.

I can see that You're kinda dumb but try to keep up. A losing participant in a game can be considered runner up. So of course Wisconsin was the runner up in the championship game. Now please point me toward the Big10 release or announcement that clearly ranks Wisky as the 2nd place finisher overall in the final Big10 rankings(does Big10 even rank the 12 teams or media types just make a ranking up). And, I won't acknowledge some guy named Bud or some girl named Sparkles as a source speaking for the Big10 just because you or they say so. I did state clearly that I wasn't sure if Wisky is considered #2, ranked ahead of OSU and UM, by the Big10. I have a sneaky suspicion they would never officially rank Wisky #2 and then let OSU and UM be chosen ahead of them for Bowl placement. Thanks for your efforts in clearing this up. I'll be checking in periodically here to see if you can provide a link from Big10 that provides validity to your claim.

You realize Colorado is not in the Rose Bowl right? You realize your argument places Colorado, as an aknowledge #2 in PAC, in the Rose no? USC didn't play in the Championship Game yet are in the Rose Bowl. That's because a team that is runner up in a conference championship game may very well not be runner up designated in the overall ranking acknowledged by the conference. I know this may be a piling on penalty but Wisky, VaTech and Colorado would love it if your argument wasn't jibberish because if it was how you see things all three schools would be in Major Bowls.

Boom!!!! There goes the dynamite!!!

This headline
"WMU rowing to Cotton Bowl to play Big 10 runner-up Wisconsin" is from Fox Sports. Take up your argument with them.

And you call me dumb when you continue to argue after you just lost your ass in the argument. [laughing]

Again dumbasss try to comprehend that what Fox, ESPN or some idiot on a message board named countryroad89 says or writes doesn't represent an official position from the Big10. Please tell me you didn't graduate from WVU! And again this is piling on but anyone reading my posts can't even help you so go away and I'll see ya in another thread.

Ba ba ba boom!!!

Everyone else knows you were wrong yesterday when I first posted this. Enjoy your walk of shame.:flush:

No one that watched that game would come away thinking that WVU was better football team than OkieSt on that day. There are millions of people that would say after the OSU/PSU game OSU was the better football team. Sometimes better football teams, under certain circumstances, can lose to a lesser team on a given day. Anyone that has played sports know this can occur. So to me your connecting the dots is off. But I get that there is definitely an argument that PSU beat OSU.
But since that game PSU has proven themselves to be the better team. Look at the common opponent of Michigan State to see that.

You're more rational here than you are on your PSU home board. I follow and visit 4 team sites. I use to follow PSU before I got banned for calling out Eurotrash. It's ok to jump from site to site IMO with the teams you follow but you still don't realize that most in America don't view PSU as better than OSU. Michigan either. It was easy for the committee to put PSU in front of Michigan at the end because it didn't matter. If Washington or Clemson loses Michigan was in the final four. Penn St had an unbelievable year. Top 4 consideration for sure! But Washington won the PAC so they deserved it. Clemson and Bama deserve getting in. So it comes down to OSU and PSU. You have to come to grips with conference title being secondary in this instance. The Committee proved that was the case. So is PSU better than OSU? IMO probably not. With that said your program looks to be back. Enjoy!
So Washington won the PAC and deserves to be in but PSU, who won the best conference in college football, doesn't??? Ok, I get it.

But since that game PSU has proven themselves to be the better team. Look at the common opponent of Michigan State to see that.
Do you mean the common opponent that played Ohio State tough at home in the snow and gale force winds, then led Penn State at Halftime in Happy Valley? Let's look at all of the other "common opponents," shall we?

Maryland: Ohio State won by 59 points, Penn State by 24 points
Indiana: Ohio State won by 21 points, Penn State by 14
Rutgers: Ohio State won by 58 points, Penn State by 39
Michigan: Ohio State won by 3 points, Penn State lost by 39 points (and shown mercy)

And, you were saying?

Reverse the the teams. Give Ohio State the PSU body of work and Give PSU the Ohio State body of work. Ohio State would be in with two losses and conference title over PSU 1 loss and no title. You can bank on that.

But since that game PSU has proven themselves to be the better team. Look at the common opponent of Michigan State to see that.

Not buying that argument AWS. Not many coaches in America had Penn St ranked ahead of Ohio St. I've gone back and forth on this but if I had a vote I would put Penn St ahead of Washington in a poll but not playoff. To me a second loss eliminates playoff berth. But that's just me.

So Washington won the PAC and deserves to be in but PSU, who won the best conference in college football, doesn't??? Ok, I get it.

To me it the second loss that eliminates playoff berth. Bottom line is with 5 conferences this system sucks. Should be 6 or better yet 8. Penn st had a great year should take a back seat to no one.

I agree with 6 not sure about 8. Big 10 possibly gets 3 teams in if it was 8 this season. I prefer 6. 1 & 2 get a by. 3 plays 6 and 4 plays 5. Even though 8 sounds better.

The Big 12 was weak overall this year and that perception along with WVU not having a marquee win hurt us.

If Oklahoma State doesn't lose to a MAC school and the Conference Champ OU doesn't lose to Ohio State at home and lose to AAC team, then it's a different conversation.

You are correct, but this logic isn't applies to the Big 10, where a team that didn't make its own conference playoff is considered better than the team that won it and beat Ohio State, too. Pretzel logic, again. So nothing the CFP committee says has creditability. I hope the ratings do south. Then they'll pay attention because that costs TV money.

Your post idea would be view as well. The only thing 8 brings to the table is maybe a NON P5 gets the 8th hole. Wth that said j like 6.

Not just committee is saying it. Just about all of the coaches in America knows OSU is better than PSU. Most media as well. At least that's what the polls say. So not just the committee.

Scoreboard.

Scoreboard?
Actually proved to mean very little to the coaches and media that vote in the polls. To most people outside of PA. And obviously the Committee agreed with everyone else. Other than that the win over OSU must have tasted mighty sweet.

Incorrect.

Ohio State beat Oklahoma in Norman and beat an outstanding Wisconsin team in Madison along with beating Michigan.

Wisconsin beat LSU. Michigan beat Colorado.

The Big 12 was nowhere in hemisphere of Big 10 this year and perception is valid.
