I don't think any current P5 schools will leave their current conference to join the Big12. Maybe there is a chance for two ACC schools to switch but I honestly don't see that happening because the long standing ACC members have traditional Rivals and geographically speaking they are all in the right place. The newer ACC members wouldn't make another conference move so soon one would think.

BYU is not an option or the Big12 would have already extended an offer.

Notre Dame would be the best option and would be great as a Big12 member but they already have a nice deal with the ACC and you wouldn't think it would be in their best interest.

The only way the Big12 expands is by taking two G5 schools like they did WVU and giving those schools opportunity to grow.

I know both are hot now because of their up and coming coaches but they could also make it easier for those coaches to stay as members of the Big12. And they both would have no trouble finding good coaches being member of the Big12.

No matter what the Big12 will be forced to expand one day so they might as well bite the bullet and do it sooner rather than later.

And Houston and Memphis make the most sense realistically

To many Texas teams already! They really need to help WVU! I think Memphis and Cinci would be perfect! For both football and basketball. Or maybe South Florida and Cinci actually! To me that footprint in Ohio and Florida makes the most sense to me!

Or let's just stay at 10 and continue to play the best conference schedule ever and not water it down by adding two urban schools and creating divisions and also lowering the tv payout. At least stay put til better options come about.

The television payout would not be lowered - that myth was busted this summer by the OU AD. Basketball Tourney money would go down but then also go up due to more teams in the tournament. So there would be a minor dip in money but not the huge one that many predicted and that would probably be offset by the gradual payments that the new members would get.

B12 is not going to expand to accommodate WVU. Luck failed to get us in the ACC, which was where our natural rivals were.

UGH - the ACC never wanted us and snubbed their noses at us....get over it....We're in a much better place now...

Houston made a great coaching hire. Period. When he laves for Illinois or Iowa State or whoever is smart enough to hire him, you are stuck with yet another Texas team you gave the 'cred' to recruit against the big boys in Texas on occasion, because now they are in a real conference. Terrible Idea.

The Cincy and Memphis idea is the best one. Not simply to accommodate WVU but they are the best 2 options as far as programs (both sports) and tbh, if it makes the league make a little more sense geographically its a win.

That being said its all going to be completely overhauled in the next 10 years anyway and 'hopefully' some geographic and historical common sense will be a lot easier to implement.

--and fwiw the tobacco road elitists never wanted you. now that the big east takover of the ACC is almost complete the next big shift will change the story. just need the big 10 (likely) or the sec (unlikely) to help us out by taking a few of these original acc shlubs off our hands

Part of the reason FSU and Clemson stayed in the ACC not so long ago was because part of the lure to keep them there was the ACCN, which would have effectively been an ESPN production. ESPN has all but killed the idea and there will likely be no ACCN of any type now. Without the ability to sell their Tier 3 rights now schools like FSU and Clemson are going to fall even further behind their SEC neighbors and they were already far behind them. The dedicated sports schools in the ACC can only tolerate a smaller payout for so long before they choose the Maryland option. If FSU can point to the line in the ACC GOR that states the creation of an ACCN and one does not come into being, the ACC GOR may be vulnerable. I am sure others see this differently, but FSU and Clemson have already had a foot out the door before.

except for the fact they do have the right, and they do sell them, great point..

You obviously do not understand how the Tier 3 rights are set up in the ACC. The only rights that matter are in football and to some extent basketball. All of the football rights belong in the Tier 1 or 2 and some of the basketball is in tier 3 to placate Duke, WF and UNC who sell those games. For schools like FSU and Clemson there are effectively no tier 3 rights.

1. i put that reply because it usually gets more people posting than the typical 'add x or add y' comment

2. i know exactly how tier 3 rights work. you have proven in your post that you do not. clemson and FSU , and especially UNC for that matter, get plenty of money for their teir 3 rights. if you care for me to explain it in depth feel free to pm me

Omar...why a PM ?

Just post it... ...and it's actually tier 3... ..right?

Can't blame Luck, ACC did not want WVU, and neither did SEC. but i have got a feeling, that what i have been hearing on the channels. big 12
will be left out again. to make room for BIG 10 and SEC. They are already saying that we don't play Good "D". not like SEC or BIG 10

because its a discussion that has been settled 10 times over the past 5 years here, even the dude himself abided
it will grow into a thread where people that don't know what they are talking about, get angry and name call over something that doesn't really matter and is more myth than fact.

and i don't really want to derail an important thread on whether memphis, ucf, cincy, or temple makes better travel partnerts

as far as the playoffs, unless b12 really canibalizes the only way they can get left out is if notre dame runs the table now. pac already on the outside looking in.

LIke we are really going to decide the outcome of Big 12. the texas teams do not listen to us, and that is a fact.

Oh, by all means please just post it here...this should be good.

how about this. tell me what wvu makes in '3rd tier rights'.
just for things that clemson and FSU, or even a program like Rutgers can't make money on.

if you can answer that we will get into the discussion, if not...

for bonus points, give me at least 3 reasons why the PAC has the worst main 'tv deal' right now.
