"In late August 2023, West Virginia University learned of a potential eligibility concern for men's basketball transfer student-athlete Kerr Kriisa, who admitted to receiving impermissible benefits while enrolled at the University of Arizona. West Virginia worked cooperatively with the NCAA Student-Athlete Reinstatement Staff to reach an appropriate resolution. As a result of his actions, Kriisa will miss nine (9) 2023-2024 regular season games as part of his eligibility reinstatement. Kriisa will be able to continue to practice and travel with the team during his suspension from competition. He accepts responsibility for his actions at Arizona and looks forward to joining his Mountaineer teammates on the floor."

in all honesty, what is illegal in this day and time? Looks like the NCAA is looking to be relevant in something and not really doing their job. So they look to pick at teams they can pick at. But let it be Duke or UNC, or another blue blood and the heads turn and nobody cares.

Time to do away with the NCAA and just let the free for all go. It is what it is now anyway.

never thought I'd see this violation again since they are now paid cash money...odd

What punishment is Arizona receiving as part of the violations?
Arizona's punishment is that WVU will have piss poor season and only 8 players for the first 9 games.

Feel bad for Josh cause this is not giving him a fair shake. He stands no chance to get the job.

Looks like people going to get what they want with a brand new shiny staff.

Statement from Arizona on the matter saying essentially the ncaa reviewed and confirmed that nobody within the university broke any rules. Must be nice. Iā€™m sure theyā€™re completely innocent.

The NCAA will not do anything until someone threatens to take their cash generator (the NCAA basketball tournament) from them.

Itā€™s a good thing we should be bare minimum 8-1 even if our team figures to be last in the Big XII with our schedule.

Are you saying this because the name of opponent? Cause with Transfer Portal and NIL it's anybody's game these days.

Teams ranked in the 100s and higher are layups no matter what the rules are. Pitt and SJU figure to be bubble teams where even if we arenā€™t great should still split. Our season shouldnā€™t be over because we are missing a player for the glorified scrimmage part of the schedule.

We are missing our only TRUE PG. That's a problem.

It isn't ideal. It also isn't something that should be dwelled on. If handled properly, could make the team stronger when he comes back as the players will understand their capabilities better.

I expect some losses that may be should be wins. Be patient and don't over react. I have great hope that this team will improve over the course of the season and will give us some enjoyable moments.

Weā€™ve had plenty of successful teams with limited or non existent PG play, we can certainly get past Monmouth, Jacksonville State and Missouri State without one. If our team figures to be competitive, then they arenā€™t one player away from collapsing against low majors.
