Chris Sailer is one of the top names when it comes to kicking with 16 years of experience and an all-American when he was in college at UCLA. He has watched Mocksville (N.C.) Davie kicker Jonn Young since his sophomore season and he told me that the thing that has impressed with about the specialist is his ability to do all three of the kicking skills (field goals, punts and kickoffs) at a very high and consistent level. Young has a strong leg, although not an elite leg, but is very consistent and accurate in his craft. Sailer told me he really started to take off during the summer of his sophomore year and he is a lot stronger than most kickers his age. If the name Sailer sounds familiar it should, he also oversaw Josh Lambert and Nick O'Toole and has a great relationship with Joe DeForest. I asked Sailer which skill Young was the best at and he told me he does all three very well but his most valuable is likely his ability to punt just because of the difficulty in finding skilled high school punters.
