Cleveland (Oh.) Shaker Heights linebacker Avery Dunn visited West Virginia over the weekend and that was where he received word that the Mountaineers were going to be offering him a scholarship. He called the experience 'amazing' in large part because he was able to be on campus and see what the stadium was like on game day and of course receiving the offer. He has been talking with inside linebackers coach Blake Seiler since the off-season when the assistant came to watch him work out and wanted to get him down for a camp but he was never able to make the trip. But after a strong start to his senior season and an offer from Michigan State, West Virginia really turned up the heat. He told me it surprised him because he didn't really know much about Morgantown before the trip but after seeing it all he realized that there is a lot of pride in the program. West Virginia is recruiting him as a bandit linebacker and he likes the fit as well with his skill set to rush the passer and drop back into coverage. To date, Dunn has been really impressed with Seiler as a coach and the plan is to return for an official visit in December. He doesn't have any sort of timetable for a decision but does know that he wants to find a place he feels at home. Along with West Virginia he knows he wants to take an official to Michigan State and likely some others but the Mountaineers are definitely among his top schools at this stage.
