FWIW it’s been reported elsewhere. I first heard about this at the West Virginia high school A.D. meetings last year. Football is possibly being moved into four classes of 28 teams each. I think four classes is overkill in West Virginia. We just don’t have the population anymore to support it. It just means everybody gets a trophy IMO. Honestly, what they need to do is just reclassify all three classes to make it even number of teams. Right now you can still have a losing season and still make the playoffs in AAA. This could happen in every class now with a four class alignment. Basketball was the test run by the WVSSAC. I guess we’re going the way the rest of the country….
