West Virginia will play host to Syracuse center Jesse Edwards for a critical official visit starting today. The 6-foot-11 big released a top three of West Virginia, Kansas and Gonzaga last night and currently this is the only visit scheduled. Edwards is coming off an impressive season with the Orange where he averaged 14.5 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game. My understanding is Edwards is set to be on campus until Sunday and will be hosted by Jose Perez. This is a golden opportunity for West Virginia to really make an impression and try to close the deal with Edwards by getting him on campus first before he can go elsewhere. It's always a good sign to get the first visit especially with such a short turnaround but it's up to West Virginia to make it happen. Expect an all-out push. Edwards is a really athletic big that can run the floor and finish at the rim, while serving as a rim protector on the other end. The Amsterdam native has only continued to improve since arriving at Syracuse and is legitimately one of the top five overall players available in the transfer portal. He has one year left in his career. Would be a potentially massive addition if the Mountaineers do pull it off.

Iowa State guard Caleb Grill also is expected to take an official visit to campus after he wraps up his trip to Missouri. He will head to check out the Tigers basketball program April 14-15 then come to West Virginia April 16-18. Grill, who you all should be familiar with during his time with the Cyclones, averaged 9.5 points, 4 rebounds and shot 39-percent from the field as well as 37-percent from three. He is a proven Big 12 player that can hit shots on the perimeter, score off the bounce some and plays very good defense. Like Edwards, Perez is expected to play host to him on campus and Grill is an experienced player that should be able to be a nice fit into the current roster build. Grill plays with an edge and the Kansas native has already seen all of the venues and knows what to expect across the Big 12. He has one year left in his career as well and as long as he makes it to Morgantown for a visit the Mountaineers are going to have every chance to showcase the program. He hasn't released a top list yet, but it's safe to assume that Missouri and West Virginia are both high up there for him as he's already scheduled those visits and transfers typically won't waste time with trips they do end up taking.
