Yeah, Drudge never broke a story and was mocked for it which turned out to be true.

Yes. If you believe that you'll believe pretty much anything.
It may be true, but DDoS attacks usually use hacked machines. Some of those could be machines belonging to any government, ours, other nations, individual states. That wouldn't imply that it was a government operation necessarily. I don't want to dismiss it out of hand, but I'm less than convinced, especially on the word of Matt Drudge.
