They were looking for a way out of playing WVU altogether and save face while doing it when DD issued his "doctrine"...........thus the "they are afraid" part. The saving face part fell through when we replaced them with Kentucky (the real one, not some directional one), and they replaced WVU with WVIAC teams like Wesleyan and Concord.
