Just thought it would be interesting to take a look at their stats since they are compared quite a bit. I added Grier too, which makes me sad. (I could only imagine what Neal could have got out of that team last year.)

Trickett:
2013: CMP% 52.8, Y/A 6.9, TD/Int 1.0, RTG 114.6
2014: CMP% 67.1, Y/A 7.4, TD/Int 1.8, RTG 142.3

Skyler:
2015: CMP% 54.8, Y/A 7.8, TD/Int 1.9, RTG 134.7
2016: CMP% 61.1, Y/A 8.2, TD/Int 2.6, RTG 146.6

Grier
2017: CMP% 64.4, Y/A 9.0, TD/Int 2.8, RTG 162.7
2018: CMP% 67.0, Y/A 9.7, TD/Int 4.6, RTG 175.5

Kendall:
2019: CMP% 63.5, Y/A 6.4, TD/Int 1.6, RTG 127.6

Not-so-fun stat: Kendall isn't even the 10th best QB in the conference. Texas Tech has two QBs above him, and the NCAA website puts OU's backup ahead of him as well. Yikes.

I also think the argument that, "We got 10 wins with Skyler" talk is a bit ridiculous, since that defense just happened to be the best we've had since we joined the Big12. We would need an amazing one-year turnaround from a really young and thin defense. I don't see that happening.

Let's get this out of the way. No Lowe isn't the answer. And no, NB isn't going to waste a year of Doege's eligibility. This year is a freebie for NB. It makes no sense to start a QB battle on an already 3-4 season. Regardless, I think NB takes full advantage of the 4-game rule and plays Doege a lot in the final four games. If anything, I think it helps the QB battle for next year.

This isn't really a Kendall bashing post, though. Writing these stats down actually help me keep things in perspective. I think it's probable that he makes a nice jump in year 2. Sam Ehlinger went from 124.1 in '17 to 146.8 in '18. If Kendall is around 150 next year, with a better run game and more experience at WR, it could be a fun year. But the fact of the matter is Kendall NEEDS to make that jump, and it has to be substantial if we're going to be competitive. If he doesn't, and still beats out Doege, it will be ugly.

I'm trusting the climb. HCNMFB will bring us a conference championship.
