I watched Zach carefully in the game against the Falcons. To this lay person's eyes, he looked good, very good. He is very quick off the snap enabling him to get and use his leverage to open holes. He did not allow a sack although he was pushed back into the pocket early. His ability to get to the second level was evident. It was simply a terrific first game for Zach.
The following is from a Steeler writer who knows much more about the game than me:
"Zach Frazier's debut at center signaled the beginning of a new era at a position synonymous with all-time greats."
"OK, let's not get ahead of ourselves, but Frazier played with a swagger not seen since Pouncey retired in 2020. Sans a couple of bumbled snaps with Fields under center, Frazier used leverage to keep Falcons defensive lineman on their heels. He held his blocks, never seemed overwhelmed, and his aggressiveness equaled leadership – attributes that only should improve as he grows into his role."
The fumbled snaps were on Fields, not Zach. Fields is pretty bad under center.
