That would be pretty cool but unfortunately, I can't. But I really appreciate the invitation. Speaking of Vinny, I spoke to his cohort, Lester George, on the phone a couple weeks back. He's a pretty nice guy. We talked about The Greenbrier courses. He did the first restoration of The Old White back about 10 years ago bringing it back to the original CB MacDonald design which had changed over the years. Keith Foster did the restoration after the flood last year. Phil Mickelson is restoring The Greenbrier Course back to its original Seth Raynor design. Nicklaus ruined (in my opinion) The Greenbrier Course when he re-designed it back in 1977 for the 79 Ryder Cup. When I heard Justice wanted to restore it back to Raynor, I thought he'd use architects who were specialists in restoring old classics-like Tom Doak, Coore/Crenshaw, or Brian Silva. Mickleson was a shocking pick. It was interesting to hear Lester's opinions.

To be honest, most of us in Virginia don't like Lester George. Just don't like his work. Vinny made sure Lester didn't mess up kinloch. Working at jail and I have no internet so I have limited access today the reason I didn't respond sooner. Keswick looks good. Dye did redesign. Sorry u can't make it but I figured u would have to work since u had last week off playing golf. Spieths finish yesterday was off the charts

Kinloch is the only original design of his that I've played and I love Kinoch! I'd like to see Ballyhack and may drive up there and play it and VT's Dye course. He told me he's working on a resort that he's helping to develop-Virginia True, I think he said near Montross. He invited me up to play Cavalier. Seems like a good guy.

There are goats on Ballyhack to eat the vegetation. Gives new meaning to "goat track". Bhack is way too hard for the average golfer.

The only cavalier that I know about is all the way over in Va Beach. The VT dye course is good. It's a test from the next to the back tees, about 7,000. All the way back is really difficult. You can't beat playing along side the New River. Beautiful. My son is going there starting this year. I think is freshman orientation is tomorrow.

Pasatiempo in California has goats to keep native areas under control and Whistling Straits has Sheep. Minimalist design is en vogue and I guess minimalist maintenance is too.

It is in Va Beach. It's not on Golf Digest's Candidates List but I'd still like to see it. It's a Charles Banks design. Banks worked for Seth Raynor and I'm a huge MacDonald/Raynor fan. Banks used their design philosophy and incorporates the template holes in his designs. I'm sure Cavalier is pretty special assuming they haven't fuked it up. Greens committees who have little appreciation for architecture are notorious for screwing up classic courses. Restoring classic courses has become a cottage industry.

There is OB on just about every hole and it's a little over 6,000 yards. A1A4 greens. A good golf course but you have to hit a lot of hybrids and three woods. If you go, 501 city grill has grilled tuna fish tacos. They were really good the last time at ate there. The state senior am was there about three years ago. Good greens make good golf.[cheers]

I just heard today that the guy who owned the goats at Ballyhack, left and took most but left some.
