4 more 3 putts yesterday and shot 83....I'm striking it really well and putting like I've never been on a green in my life....and these 3 putts aren't even close.......I've had more 3 putts (8) in the last two rounds than I had all of last year....totally demoralizing.....if I don't get this fixed nobody will want me on their captains choice team....trying to keep it a secret

......any suggestions other than suicide?

Is the problem distance or direction? About a year ago I went through a spell where I hammered everything way by the hole. I had to spend time on the practice green smoothing my stroke back out.

it's direction

it's almost like I'm cutting the putt......these aren't lip outs these are flat out misses....I swear I almost tried "the claw"......putting is where I make my dough....this is scary

Re: it's direction

Hmmmm. Have you tried taking a ball with a line all the way around and watching the roll? You could be taking the putter outside in?

Re: it's direction

yes I did ...my pro had one in his bag...and I am chopping it pretty good....and most of the misses are 4ft and in....I've never had a problem with the putter in 20 years.......karma catching up?

Re: it's direction

This is the drill I see the our teaching pro's using with the Jr Golfers a lot during short game practice.

Old man yips allowing small muscles to come in?
Practice start at 2'. Get mental image and go thru ball with big muscles. Move back as you are consistent with direction and distance.

If that fails, Lag to circular target and hole out. Accept the two strokes.

Also accept that you are getting older in the golf world.

When I'm having trouble with putting

During practice my main concentration point is just being smooth with the putter. Even tempo.

Don't ask me about putting unless you want to turn 4 3-putts a round into about 7.

Heading to Panama City Beach right now for a golf weekend. cya
