🔥🔥BREAKING🔥🔥 Ross Hodge to be named WVU's new basketball coach

Yes, I cannot think of one benefit to bring Huggins back. Not one. It would be a national PR disaster for the school and program. We would look desperate. And if that’s not enough, he wasn’t winning at the level he used to. He’s past his prime. I thank him for what he did here, but let’s be real. Like you said, he’s 72 and a full blown alcoholic with a checkered past. Why should we risk that maybe this time he’s a recovered alcoholic? He supposedly did that after Cincinnati fired him for the same thing. Nevermind he always said he would “fix it” with his team, he always struggled to fix himself. I wish him the best. Truly. WVU needs to move on and so does Huggins.

Pr disaster? Nope. Only to the tiny penis club. Literally no one else cares. Im not even saying we shoud hire him anyways lol. Literally only if hes the best coach who will come here. But I was expecting a better coach to take the job. That triggets some of you tho. Its funny. Just the fact that you guys are so willing to throw one of our own under the bus and turn your back on him makes this program deserve everything we're going through. I want to think the wvu fan base would take up for their own and have each other's backs but some of you guys are not like that obviously. Wvu should get no credit at all for what he accomplished and he should not advocate wvu.

We have truly moved on and it has been a total disaster dude lol. Thats my point basically. I hope this Ross guy can fix things but we've sunk in pretty far if that's all we could get to come here. I hope he's a home run but I've heard some credible donor people who think that good coaches won't come here because of what they did to Huggins, a hall of fame legend who raised money for his facilities on his own personal time. If we can do that to one of our own... You guys can deny it all you want but we are in the situation because of what they did to him. It was a sure sign of really really bad leadership. Smart coaches with options know that.

Huggins made his bed and now he is sleeping in it. He deserved to be shit canned for his actions and WVU actually did him a favor by giving him the opportunity to resign. Karma is not a thing because if it were the cheaters at UK, KU, and UNC would be in gutter. But even if karma did exist, in no way would WVU be more in the wrong than Huggins himself was in how his departure from WVU unfolded.

So yeah, it would look terrible and desperate for a program to rehire a coach that was fired from the program 2 years ago. A coach that couldn't even get the job at McNeese State. A coach that everyone knows has significant baggage. And a coach that we all agreed had only maybe 1-2 years left in him 2 years ago. Hell we all thought the 2023-2024 season was likely his swan song as the portal roster looked good on paper.

I never said rehire him, unless he's the best coach willing to come here. I know you ladies like to bring that up, but he wasnt even in my top 5 after devries left. He got way higher on the list after so many coaches turned us down though. I'm just saying, we did all this to ourselves and it may end up sinking the program even further if Ross Hodge doesn't pan out. Let's hope Ross pans out!!

Huggins made his bed, and so did WVU for the way they fired him and handled the ebtire situation. We deserved a season with Josh eilert and for devries to split after one year and also virtually everyone on the coaching short list to snub us for other schools. This is a direct result of the attitude of people like you. That attitude is what made our bed and I was one of the only one on this board calling it out for what it us when it happened. Somehow you think firing huggins at 3am was a win for WVU, but currently Huggins is way better off than wvu basketball is lol. We are getting the short end of the stick in this situation and yall are too dumb to see it. Oh well.

Coaches won’t come here because we cut ties with an alcoholic HC who not only got fired for it at Cincinnati, but also here as well? And right after he made public statements calling out fans with derogatory gay slang. You can’t say stuff like that in the public eye whenever you are the face and leader of a major athletics program that is essentially a business that depends on fan, booster support, and sponsors. Not to mention he’s 72 now and wasn’t winning at the level of expectations. That’s just crazy thinking coaches would even support this man driving drunk and putting fellow drivers and pedestrians into harms way. You are really reaching here.

He will NEVER be a better candidate. There just isn't a realistic scenario where WVU still has a basketball program and a 72 year old Huggins is better than all other candidates willing to take the job.

And WVU handled the situation BETTER than Huggins deserved. Any possible misstep by WVU your mind can conceive is so infinitesimally small in comparison to Huggins own actions that it is asinine to bring them up in the same breath.

If WVU handled the situation the same with somebody who you actually liked you would be singing a different tune. We all know you hate huggings your opinion on this is shit. You are asinine. The results speak for themselves. Look at how far the bball program has gone since they fired him. Bad leadership. Devries didn't hate WV. He hated the dumbass leadership. How many coaches turned wvu down before we finally found one at a lower level school? 5 or 6? No one wants to work for these idiots.

My concern is the guy's reliance upon the three ball... At some point, if you really want to win games, your players are going to have to drive to the basket, and they'd better be prepared for that.

Personally, I always really liked Huggins. That doesn’t mean I support him returning to WVU as HC. We all make mistakes. However, it doesn’t make any business sense bringing him back as HC.

Don Nehlen went to visit the Wvu football team the other day. The one thing I admire about Nehlen after all these years is he knew when to quit. The man was only 61 and could have conceivably kept on coaching if not here but somewhere. He recognized his best days were behind him. I don't understand why Huggins wants to coach again. The only thing he hasn't accomplished is winning a national championship. He's not going to get a job that will give him the platform to do that at this stage in his career. If he has indeed coached his last game, I know he didn't get the fairy tale ending to his career but very few do. Saban didn't go out a winner and either did coach k. The one thing I really don't understand is how not wanting Huggins back equates to hating him.

If anything, when considering a NC, Huggins probably missed his window staying at Cincinnati too long. Early on, he could’ve gone anywhere. WVU probably got him at the end of his prime. Outside of that Final Four appearance after he just got there, he really never reached the greatness of his past. And that is NOT an insult to the man. I do consider him one of the greats.
