We had a very lively board 10-15 years ago. There were probably 15 libs and 30+ conservatives that posted on a regular basis. Not everyone every day, but you'd see them: Clay, Dr. Doom, even Knox. The discussions were sometimes contentious but usually quite deep compared to what I have read on here lately.
What I've seen over time is that Twitter and other social media platforms ruined this one. We had a board where we knew everyone we were talking to, not in real life, but we knew enough about each other to carry on. Before Knox attempted to doxx people, I would've gladly had a beer with any of them and did on a few occasions.
Now is completely different. Even the people I knew, they don't act the same. Not on here. Relative newcomers to this board that claim to be on the right, including yourself, have accused me, even me, of being a leftist paid shrew. I wouldn't have posted for 20+ years on this board as a conservative (no longer Republican) if this could remotely be true. You know how to make enemies, you don't know how to keep friends.
'82 posts a million relinks of the same Twitter posts that most of us already see. This board has become his archive. When I go on Twitter, I get to choose what I look at, and what I don't. Unless I blocked 82, I don't have a choice here. I never asked for the OT Board to become a Twitter Lite.
The left becoming batshit crazy leftists has created some of this. Another part is the dumbing down of our politics. Afterall, the most important thing in the Republican primary was that one candidate wore boots or something.
I feel I owe one person an apology for how I treated them on here:
@WVUCOOPER, you were right about Trump. My mistake.
