WVSPORTS.COM Recapping WVU's loss to Memphis while putting a bow on the 2024 season

The Kneel Clown Show is finally OVER!!!! For the second time in three years we finish sub .500. The worst 6 year run of WVU football in my lifetime.
Neal Brown was in over his head here. I have no doubt he tried, but I don’t think he fit in here. He didn’t really understand the culture at all. I blame this more on Shane Lyons. He interviewed and hired him. Listening to any press conference from Brown, it was obvious he was a bad fit at WVU. He didn’t think the Pitt game was a big deal. He didn’t think winning was that important as long as we had beautiful weather and top notch tailgating experiences and enjoyed the atmosphere surrounding a big game. Lyons should’ve had some inclination this guy was a bad fit at WVU. It’s more than just winning ability here in WV. It’s both winning and relating to WV people. And that’s not an easy person to find. That’s why picking a WV native like Rod and his success was a no brainer.

Lyons handcuffed us when he extended his contract based on a bowl win over Army with Doege on the bench. Baker should have canned him when he took over for Lyons two years ago. Water under the bridge now.

Any other Big 12 bowl team wins by 2 scores or more against Memphis.

Memphis overrated big time. Subtract turnovers and WVU wins easily.
Maybe but you can't project a statement of fact and it is automatically true. It isn't. Game is played on the field. It may be your opinion but you didn't state it as that. So my opinion is any team can win on the field and it happens. Disagree as you wish

Cignetti run was worse by comparing record.
True, but I believe he also had cancer he was battling at that time. The man was a solid recruiter. Landed Oliver Luck, Darryl Talley and the number 1 overall recruit in the country Robert Alexander. Set Nehlen up nicely in year 1.

I'm not stunned. Hope he gets it. Would be a good fit.
I’m not sure he’s a good fit there or not. Lower expectations probably. So maybe so.
So do I. With being in ACC he could be very successful.
I don’t know if the ACC is weaker or stronger than the Big12. If anything, I’d say it’s pretty close after you get past Clemson and FSU (any other year besides this year).

Big 12 is better than ACC. But I believe once Big 10 and SEC pluck through most of ACC then Big 12 and ACC will merge together.
