I read this in The Athletic. The articles point was that you didn’t need to. necessarily spend as much as Kansas to be a winner. I know we have taken a similar path. See below.
Iowa State’s best transfers over the last two cycles? The leading scorer on a 15-win Buffalo team (Curtis Jones), the second-leading scorer at UNLV (Keshon Gilbert), the fourth-leading scorer at Saint Mary’s (Joshua Jefferson), the third-leading scorer at Charlotte (Dishon Jackson), the fourth-leading scorer at Seattle (Brandton Chatfield) and Northern Iowa’s leading scorer, at 13.5 points per game, on a fourth-place team in the Missouri Valley (Nate Heise).
Coach T.J. Otzelberger combines those guys with starting point guard Tamin Lipsey, a three-star recruit in the 2022 class, and Milan Momcilovic, the only player on the roster who was a top-100 recruit in high school. Momcilovic, who missed the KU game with a hand injury, is this team’s fifth-leading scorer.
It’s pretty wild this is the second-ranked team in college basketball when you write it out like that.
