Hello Blue Lotters! I am a rare poster, but thought I would share some quick thoughts on our new head coach and maybe help alleviate some pain from the new hire.
First, I want to say that I was once the BIGGEST Rich Rod hater in the universe. Saying things like "He will never be welcome here," and I "demand a personal apology for what he did," and constantly actively rooting for his coaching demise.
Now, I find myself extremely excited for the return of Rich Rodriguez. Being reminded of the constant happenings of his glory days has made me unbelievably nostalgic and I will root for him to dominate those lame duck Big 12 teams that Neal Brown never could.
Do I think Rich Rodriguez will succeed like he did in 2007? Of course not. College football has become too much of a wasteland for teams like us to be one game away (and a 28-point favorite at home) from a national championship, but I expect him to compete for the Big 12 championship every year. I do not expect to be bullied or pushed around like we were under Brown. I don't expect to there to be a game that I know before kick-off we have no shot at winning (especially at home against a team with a 5-4 record). And most importantly, even if we don't win the game, the other team will know we existed. They will have felt what it's like to play the Mountaineers and their bruises will be a nice reminder that when you play the Mountaineers, you're in for a street fight.
Bringing back Rich Rodriguez may be a controversial choice but just hold the rope, because we're in for a wild ride.
P.S. If you were one of the "detractors" from the site and are "no longer a Mountaineers fan" because of the hire. You were never a fan to begin with. And I'll see you in October when we are 3-1 or 4-0 and you come crawling back like you never left. And @Vernon, when they do come back, make them take a walk of shame and double their members fee.
