(*Yes, I am setting aside the miserable 2013 game where Dana started a potato at QB)

Maryland this year is same ol'Maryland. They recruit pretty well, and have good athletes - sometime elite athletes like Stefon Diggs, Yannick Ngakoue, DJ Moore, Byron Cowart, Torrey Smith. But, they are almost always: (1) Poorly coached, especially on defense; (2) Undisciplined, especially on defense; and, (3) prone to mistakes, especially on defense. Now they are coached by Mike Locksley. Mike Locksley's coaching record for three seasons at New Mexico was 2-26. That is bad, right? Not according to Maryland. They looked his record and said: "This is our guy". Now, he is 5-12 in his two seasons in College Park, and 3-11 in Big Ten play.

If our WRs catch the ball, look for another big day for a WVU QB vs. Maryland. I would venture to say that Leddie Brown will get his, as well. If our defense gels over the Fall Camp, this game could get ugly -- I"m thinking a similar outcome as the WVU/NC State tilt in Neal Brown's first season. This game will be a heck of a barometer for our coaching staff, as we should have a decided edge in coaching acumen, strategy, discipline...you name it.

We should be able to post Jarrett Doege's stats from Sept. 4, 2021 and have them look similar to the above, with perhaps Leddie Brown and Bryce Ford-Wheaton's (Kaden Prather?) up there too.
