Please indulge me for a moment. Sitting in my living room, watching the game last night made me wonder about the performance that I saw when I went to OSU a few weeks ago. A very satisfying victory, and it did me good to watch Gundy squirm on the sidelines in a trouncing; karma is a bitch and it was good to be on the other side for once.

Then two weeks of win-able home games that ended in defeat and put WVU under .500 AGAIN for the season. Pre-season I fully expected to lose to Arizona as I thought they would be better than they have turned out to be. Going up early and taking a good lead I thought to myself, "This is the team I saw in Stillwater!" Then they turned into the team I saw play Pitt. Fortunately, they pulled it off for the W!

The one constant in this year's play has been the poor play of the defense, especially behind the Linebackers. LB play hasn't been all that great except for Josiah Trotter, who has been outstanding. But the secondary and the scheme they play has been dreadful and it has been that way since after all of DH's guys cycled through the program. Either Brown, Lesley or ShaDon is a poor judge of talent in the defensive secondary and it has to STOP! There are calls to make staff adjustments in the Bye week, but I understand that, once again, we have a money problem and a buyout problem once again.

Since it now looks like a 6-6 season at a minimum is highly possible, and HCNB will be retained for another season, will ADWB force his hand and find a way to demand staff changes in the off season? Defensive changes have got to happen to get this team, Neal's best team by his assessment, on the winning side consistently. Okay, 'nuff said about the team. Let's talk Pick'm!

We had a very ambitious 27 games to pick this week, the most other than Bowl Week in quite a while. This week's winner with 24 of 27 correct picks was.....ME! At one point I had 19 picks correct in a row and I thought we might get a Perfect Pick, which we haven't had in a long time. Then... Houston! I mean, WTF UTAH!!!!! But the good side is those righteous pricks from SLC are talking out of the other side of their mouth now. Welcome to the BIG XII!!!! Here's the rest of the numbers:

PLAYER NAME CORRECT WEEK #9 CORRECTYTD YTD/WIN %
FALLRUN 23 132 66.67%
EXPAT 24 130 65.66%
CHRISWV 22 131 66.16%

Congrats WV ex-pat! The Big 12 has been a conundrum this year. Arizona, Utah, and Okie State were in the preseason top third of the standings, and have fallen flat. BYU was near the bottom and are undefeated. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out.
