As an out of state property owner I travel the Turnpike routinely to stay at our cabin and constantly see Ohio, Indiana, and Quebec drivers (in the left land). Presumably heading south to the beach or other locales. There are no other routes that make sense - the Turnpike is and will be the most time efficient route.

With all the the budget issues in this great state why do we not A) raise the toll on out of state drivers and commercial vehicles to a true market rate and B) automate the toll process like most other states have. I feel the the Turnpike is one of best resources the state owns that is above the ground and it seems so mismanaged to me. Our tolls are cheap compared to surrounding/bordering states.

In my opinion locals should get a price break and out of staters (particularly Ohio drivers) should have to pay 10-12 bucks to get to Hilton Head. Most if not all families of four heading to Disney are not going to add hours to their drive to avoid paying an additional 5-6 dollars.
