Watching The Open and saw a brief flash of Scottie seeming to show his golf ball to an official. Pardon my naivety, but in tournaments, do guys mark their golf ball with an ID? Does an official know what that is? Does anyone verify the balls being used? Seems simple that on each hole only two or three balls should be in play, but…spent my youth listening to my high school coaches telling stories of playing with Coach Marino and got to wondering.
