OT but WV related.

Frustrated Larry Bird GIF by SB Nation

The CDC endless suggestions and edicts will never end.
They are (and have been) out of control with no end in sight.

Well, my thoughts of visiting Harper's Ferry in the spring is now a big no-go.

I really don't get all the negativity about wearing masks. My wife had surgery last Thursday and the hospital required masks, I was there from 9:30 am to 8:45 pm and wore the mask the whole time and most of it I didn't even realize I had it on. It's like people think they're wearing handcuffs. I never found it a big deal at all. Wearing mask has never dictated where I go or what I do. If I'm supposed to, I do and if I don't have to, I don't. I teach and wore it everyday for over a year, when they said we didn't have to anymore, I quit wearing it. It never felt like an obstacle or someone was purposely trying to do something to me. I figure medical professionals know more than I do about health related things so let them make the decision. I don't tell a doctor how to do their job just like I don't expect someone to tell me how to do my job.

The hospital and doctors office are only places I’ll wear a mask.

Anywhere else? They can kiss my ass.

My best friends 13 year old grew depressed and committed suicide days before his 14th birthday. I know opinions are split about masks and quarantines but I’m glad there is growing pushback from others in the medical field to learn proper procedures taking everything into account.

The denizens of the Q Lot still think "mask evil" I guess? I don't keep up with or get exposed to far right conspiracy theorist thought anywhere other than here, so it's fascinating to see what they think every now and then. Do they still think "Fauci evil" and "vaccine evil" too?

No….

I’ll think what I what to think without pinko commie leftists like you trying take my freedom.

The biggest issue I have with the mask wearing mandates is that the flimsy paper masks that allow you to comply, do nothing.

Not to mention that I’m shocked that 90% of SC residents aren’t dead, as I think mask mandates, social distancing and closed businesses were in place for about 3 weeks here before everyone moved on with their lives.

I think it's funny that Twitter has exposed how the feds shut down free speech and desenting views that were 100% accurate and yet people fail to change their view of how it is was and is still being handled.

If you are immunocompromised or have multiple co-morbid conditions, wear a mask. Asia has been dong this for 20 plus years. If you choose not to...that should be your right. simple enough.

If you get your medical suggestions off of Twitter, that's your first problem. I'd rather people ask their family physician or local pharmacist for suggestions. They don't read Twitter. They read medical journals. I guess if it's the Twitter account of an actual expert that might be an exception. Like if the head of infectious disease at a major hospital had a Twitter account. That might be okay.

That's what blows my mind about all of this. Why would you trust a platform where any idiot can post nonsense without a review from an actual medical expert?

As for masks, I think some logical nuance is needed. If its summer and there aren't a lot of community infections, masks are silly. If it's the week after Christmas and everybody is sick, maybe wear masks for a few weeks until cases decrease. If you are sick, don't be a dick and just wear a mask when in public. I don't understand why this is controversial.

Not being an ass; honest question. In your opinion, how effective are the paper masks that 90% of the people wear to comply with mask wearing policies in stopping the spread of anything?

Do you really have to ask that question? Is it not self-explanatory…?

In short: I think it makes the most sense considering the germs and illnesses within a hospital or doctors office.
makes sense in terms of potential highest amount of germs, but obviously not the only places where germs are spread.. i.e., I travel a lot for work and hadn't worn a mask on planes since the day they dropped the requirement....until this week when traveling to visit my mom-in-law who is in her 80s, and because the covid/flu/rsv case rights are spiking lately and she worries about it, so I wanted to be considerate of her

truth is I only wore it this trip because my wife asked me to.. she took my freedom a long time ago so now I just generally comply with her policies because it's easier ;)

The "paper" surgical masks are better than cloth. In the beginning, they were effective against the alpha strain of the virus. As it mutated, the viral load needed to lead to infection drastically decreased. And by the time the Omicron variants came around and they were considerably less effective. So in 2020-21 cloth masks were fine, now not as much. I'd wear one of the N95/KN95 type of masks if you want protection against the current strains.

Imagine thinking anti-covid or anti-vaxers are only right wingers. LMAOOO. Laughable. Get out of your shell.
Oh, absolutely not. In fact, antivaxxing used to be a crazy liberal thing only.

They just don't post on here. I've never seen anyone on here go on about how such and such vaccine causes autism. Which is what the liberal antivaxxers were all about. Case in point, Jenny McCarthy in the late 00s.

If someone where to talk about classic issues liberals are just wrong about like this or about the "evils" of GMOs on here, I would call them out as well. They just don't exist on The Blue Lot.
