I haven't played golf in about 8 months due to what I’m pretty sure is an intercostal muscle strain or pull. Pain’s mostly been manageable until I tried to play nine holes with a buddy who came down to visit. Thought I’d gut it ou…but the pain caught up to me after nine ….
We ended up getting paired with two guys from Clevelan…both went to Ohio State, probably late 30s/early 40s. Great guys, we got to talking sports, especially football. I congratulated them on the national title and both of them (this floored me) said they’d rather have beaten Michigan than have won the national championship.
I said,….You’ve gotta be kidding me… it’s a national championship.
They both doubled down—said the rivalry means that much, and there’ll always be a stain on that season because of the Michigan loss.
I told them the real stain on the program is the mascara Ryan Day wears on the sidelines every Saturday….
Anyway, golf was a bust, but the banter was top-tier. Can’t believe some fans value that game over the title… Only in college football…seriously Pitt could beat us for the next 10 years and I would be ok with it for a National Championship…any day of the week and twice on Saturday
