I know we’ve debated the hell out of this on here, and a lot of people don’t think the bowls matter anymore now that we have a playoff. But UNC has had their best season in decades and has a chance to prove themselves against a team that many thought deserved to be in the playoff. Their 3 best skill players on offense have opted out. I don’t like it when guys skip the Liberty Bowl or the Cheez-It Bowl, but this is the damn Orange Bowl against a top 5 team. You can’t convince me that a victory in this game wouldn’t do a lot for any program not named Bama, Ohio St or Clemson. You don’t turn a program into a playoff team overnight. You use games like this to build on through recruiting, media attention, pre-season rankings, etc. These athletes owe it to their teammates and their schools to help build the program. I’ve been a die-hard college football fan since 1993 and I’m tired of watching what’s is happening to this sport. Something needs to change.
