--West Virginia led this game 27-20 with 4:09 left in the game and from that point things completely switched and the Mountaineers were outscored 53-24 as they struggled to get really anything going. It started with a 15-3 run to led the Red Raiders seize control of the game at the end of the first half. The Mountaineers got a lot of open three point shots but simply couldn't hit them and it allowed the Red Raiders to really just run away with this game in the second half.
--West Virginia was 6-27 from three and simply couldn't put the ball in the basket. The Mountaineers had chances, many different chances, but it just wasn't their day shooting the ball. They shot just 33-percent overall.
--Javon Small had just 1 point at halftime and was 0-4 from the floor. That was better in the second half with at 3-10 from the floor and 5 total assists for the game but he finished with just 10 points. The game really seemed to split apart at the seams when he was on the bench for a stretch in the first half but then it was too little too late. Small had to work hard for everything he got.
--Back-to-back double-doubles for Amani Hansberry with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Again a strong effort from him.
--Texas Tech was +10 in the paint and really did a good job working it down there in the second half as well as simply making shots. They made some open ones, but also some tough ones but they simply made their shots and the Mountaineers didn't.
--West Virginia only had 9 turnovers, but only forced 9 and couldn't get out and run and get creative ways to score. The second half on defense was a struggle as Texas Tech was able to basically bully them in the paint and then kick it out for some open threes. They were at 1.483 points per possession in the second half. That tells you all you need to know.
--Flush this one and get ready for the four most important games of the season. At 16-11, 7-9 in the Big 12, the Mountaineers still have work that needs to be done to try to stack some wins down the stretch against TCU, BYU, Utah and UCF. I still believe in order to feel confident you need to win three of four but you at worst need to get two unless you go on a run in the tournament.
